Simon Monk passed away unexpectedly at his home, believed from a heart attack.

Simon will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery on
Tuesday May 31.

Simon Nicholas Monk
November 11, 1957 – May 2, 2022
Simon was born in Ormskirk, England to Ron and Rosemary Monk. The family left England and ultimately set down roots in Arlington, Texas when Simon was 7 years old. After graduating high school, Simon joined the Air Force and was a member of the 435th OMS Enroute MX Section. He was honorably discharged in 1981.
Simon moved to Southern California where he worked as a computer programmer while going to Cal State Fullerton to earn his BS in Computer Engineering. On September 7, 1990, and quite by accident, Simon met his future wife Susan at a sushi bar. They married one year later in Rancho Mirage, California. On October 16, 1997 they welcomed their daughter Claire Louise into the world. They moved to Mission Viejo, California where Susan and Claire still reside.

Simon will always be remembered as a man with a loving heart, off-beat sense of humor, lover of cigars and golf and martinis. He was a wonderful husband and father and brother and uncle and friend. Simon is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Claire, sister Joanne (Michael Brake) and her three sons Gabe, Dan, and Matt, and his best friend Drew Brown.
