YC-141 Dedication Ceremony

YC-141B  -- Dedication Ceremony

The YC-141B (66-0186) on display at the Aviation History & Technology Center is a monument to the thousands of men and women who have designed, built, maintained, and flown the aircraft over its four decades of service.

After more than twelve years of passionate restoration by the museum’s volunteers, it is completed and ready for its official dedication.  The public is invited to join us as we welcome distinguished guests and speakers to elaborate on the C-141’s legacy, both locally and globally.  The aircraft will be dedicated to the community as a tribute to the birthplace of the StarLifter.

NOTE: I've had a few people to ask me, WHY is this airplane so special?
This was the first C-141B to be stretched 23 & 1/2 feet and inflight refueling capability was added.
I was stationed at Charleston AFB, SC and remember when this aircraft arrived, after having been stretched.

THIS IS WHAT THE AIRPLANE LOOKED LIKE in 2007, WHEN THEY OBTAINED IT AT THE MUSEUM.
