Donna died the summer we graduated. She was a very sweet girl and I knew her since childhood-we were nearby neighbors for many years. We frequently played in the yards around 6th and River Sts. and over on the levy by the river. She is deeply missed.
Donna was one of my best friends for the years before she died. We were so close that she would stay all night with my mom even when I wasn't home. I would do the same with her mom. I was devastated when she died, and wished I could have been with her to maybe prevent it. I really didn't know how close she was to some of you and I am so glad to know you have great memories of her. She was a great and creative friend. We spent many nights together trying to write songs and become superstars. I still have many, many pictures and items of her that I will always treasure.

She was our friend and her death profoundly impacted all of us. I found this the picture above of Donna Bernard and someone else but I can't remember her name right now. DONNA WAS ONE OF MY VERY BEST FRIENDS AND I LOVED HER SO MUCH. SHE WAS THE BEST AND I STILL MISS HER TODAY.. I SAW HER THE NIGHT SHE DIED. I JUST WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE, I SURE WOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING. DONNA, MARTY AND I ALWAYS WERE TOGETHER TOO. WE WERE YOUNG AND HAD A GREAT TIME TOGETHER. THOSE WERE THE DAYS.
Donna died July 17, 1973. I saw her the night she died. She is missed terribly and I wish I had done something to help her. It has haunted me for years.
