Making morning announcements on the Intercom, being a part of Student Council, playing Chuck Barris in the "Gong Show," and Beating South Point for the first time in football are some of my fondest memories from high school. Singing with Scott Farmer, Lori McGinnis and Steve Perkins in a gospel group is another. Oh, and there was the harmonizing in Chorus when we weren't supposed to be. The bus rides back from football games were always fun because we usually won.

I graduated from Western Carolina in 1984 (on the 5-year plan)with a degree in Radio & Television Communications and a Minor in Journalism. I have worked in broadcasting, shopping mall management, trade show promotions, television production and advertising the past 24 years.

After college, I stayed in the mountains of North Carolina as Publicity Director for Fontana Village Resort in Fontana Dam, NC; then took jobs in Charleston, SC (Citadel Mall) and Gastonia, NC (Sumner Group Advertising) before landing in Birmingham, Alabama. I was offered a job here with an advertising agency in 1990 and have never left.

Most of my career has been focused in radio-television production and advertising, specializing in car commercials. I currently work in cable television (Charter Media & Communications) serving as advertising sales manager for 4 TV markets in Alabama.

I married Debbie McElroy from Waynesville, N.C. in 1985. We met at WCU. We have two sons.. Reed, 15, and Rhett, 12. We are active members of First Baptist Church of Trussville, Alabama, and I still enjoy singing gospel music.

There are times when I really miss Gaston County. My Mom lives in Gastonia and my sister Kim lives in Belmont. It was great to have been a part of such a great high school class at East Gaston.
