ANNOUNCEMENTS

ATTENTION

Dear CHS '71 Classmates,

The consensus of the reunion committee was that this just isn't the proper time to have our reunion because of the Covid situation that is affecting us all.  We made that decision after lots of discussion and conversation.  The decision was unanimous to postpone, not cancel, setting the new reunion date for September 30-October 1, 2022.  We decided to postpone for a whole year in hopes that the situation will have improved enough to allow us to have a "normal" reunion (no masks, no "show your vaccination cards or proof of negative Covid test", etc.).  Many of our classmates have been affected directly by this pandemic, and we all want everyone who wants to attend the reunion to feel safe.

We decided to ask each of you who have already paid to leave your money in the class bank account.  We have excellent records/reports which have helped us tremendously during this process.  We prefer that you leave your registration and your payment as it is so that you are READY for the 50+1 Reunion!  If it turns out that you cannot attend in 2022, we will refund your payment then.

Because of the administration fees to use a credit card, if you request a refund for registration and paid with a credit card, the amount refunded will be the total you paid LESS six percent.  We ask that you make your request on email to Gary Grubbs or me, not to the website.  We will then notify you of your refund amount and mail a check to you.  PLEASE make sure we have your correct mailing address with your request.

Your committee has worked diligently and hard to plan this event.  Everyone on the committee agreed that postponement was the wise and safe decision.  We hope everyone will now pull out your calendars and schedule our 50+1 Reunion set for September 30-October 1, 2022!

Thank you all for understanding the decision we made to postpone.  We promise to work as hard for our rescheduled reunion as we have this past several months.  We pray for continued good health and safety for all as everyone navigates these trying times.

Sincerely,

Russell McKeever, rdmckeever75@gmail.com

The reunion is coming and we need to get the word out to everyone we possibly can.

If you would take a moment to look at the list on the Missing Classmates page here:

https://www.classcreator.com/Abilene-Texas-Cooper-1971/class_classmates_missing.cfm

I found several people I knew that weren't on Facebook and I had their email addresses. Just looking through the names helped me recall folks I knew.

So, please, take a little time as if we can just get one more person notified, it was all be worth while.

Stay safe!

July 24, 2021

Our sweet classmate LORETTA HILLER Newberry passed away today with Covid. She fought a valiant fight but lost. Here is the message sent out by her children.

“Heaven gained our precious mom today. Our hearts are broken. Please keep us, our family and her friends in your prayers for the days to come.

We will share arrangements as soon as we can. Thank you for praying with us and for us. “

Please keep this family and others in your prayers. I’ll post the arrangements as soon as I hear.
