In Memory

John Walsh

The following from Sherry Meers (Innes):

Johnny Walsh, class of '61 bad boy, grew to become a fine adult. He attributed that to his parents, grandparents, and his military service. After being diagnosed with melanoma, he had many surgeries and was never without pain, yet he didn't complain. I had to press him for information about his health. He loved his family and the birth of his granddaughter became his motivation for undergoing additional surgeries with the hope of extending his time with her. Every time I visited him the last 4 years I left challenged and inspired. He really hoped to make it to the 55th reunion of the class of '61, but was realistic about his chances. I will miss his crazy laugh and positive outlook.

RIP...John....I can remember you in Kindergarten as all the way through school and graduating with you in the class of 1961.  I will always remember you as he guy who always had a smile and the twinkle in your eyes when you were having fun...You are just the one who will never be forgotten as you were kind to all.  John, you will be missed as there will never be another you.  Fly high, my friend and someday we will all meet again...

Your friend and classmate,

Janet Eastman Pearcy

John was one of the most polite boys that I knew. He might have been the town clown, but he was there if you needed him. He was my first date and he picked me up at my house and we walked to a matinee and then he walked me home. Don't remember what grade we were in, probably Junior High.  He will be missed.

John you will be missed.  Yes our class clown.  Always a smile on your face.  Wondering what you will be up to next.  Thank you for fond memories of high school and beyond.  You always came and talked to me at Safeway. When I was recently there on the 21st I was wishing I would run into you again for a visit.  Then just a day after I learned you were flying high with the angels, no more pain and suffering. Rest in peace knowing you are missed.  See you again some day.

John will be missed.  I will always remember graduation ceremony. John walked behind me holding on to my gown. He told me, "i don't want to get lost!"

This is on behalf of Rich and myself. Rich claimed John as a good friend, they had many alike interests, including wrestling, football, hunting, dragging Main and to much drinking. I first met John in junior high, I remember that he was wanting me to go out with him, I was still very naive at that age and it scared me to death. It wasn't until Richard and I started dating that I got to know him better. We went to his ranch after one of our class reunions and met his wife and children, they were were young at that time. He will be missed at the reunions. God bless you John.

What  an interesting character you were John. Never to be forgotten.  Talking to you at the last reunion you told me everything was going good and you were so positive.  You will be missed and we pray for family and friends to be comforted.

"Johnny" Walsh lived a block away from me on San Juan during our junior high and high school years. It seemed like every time I walked by his house on my way to Main St. to go to a movie, shop or have a cherry or lime coke he would suddenly appear and give me a bad time about what boy I was interested in or to tell me a couple of jokes. We'll all miss him and his personality.

it is so sad to see friends leave this earth.  john and i go back so many years and so man experiences.  never forget the movie manor or the showalter kid shooting at us across the alley and haying with grorge wolf.  but football memories are the best.  years later john bought whole milk from me every week. we made a geiger cunter for science fair and left it in the bushes in front of richardson hall.  so many memories.

I'll never forget John at our 50 th reunion after he got a train ticket for the LaVeta trip. He didn't reserve a ticket & the only seat he could get was in the club car. We had a great time on the way down.
