After graduation, I tried to stay in Altoona but couldn't find a job with much of a future. So I went with the Navy during Nam (1964) working and going to school at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, DC for 7 years (I received a Master Craftsman Degree and an academic degree thru the University of Maryland system as a part time commuter student). After the draw-down started from Nam, I transferred to the Bur. of Engraving becoming a Plate Maker (currency printing plates). Retired in 1997 then went to seminary at Hebrew Union College. Was hired as rabbi of a small congregation in Southern Maryland in 2001 and after 10 years retired again. Because of Covid19, I am completely retired from teaching Jewish Studies @ Beth El Hebrew School part time and teaching Tai Chi part time for the local YMCA and Prince George's Community College in the Senior Program.

Sandy...so sorry to hear of Randy's passing. I remember when we were flag twirlers in junior high school you said then you were going to marry him! How wonderful after the divorce you two were mature enough to keep coming together as now 2 families, with your shared daughters.

Happy birthday Maynard. I am glad to see you and your family are doing so well in these difficult times. It is always a sad thought for me to realize that many of us had to leave Altoona to prosper in our professional lives. But we have many memories of growing up in a wonderful age and time with many friends in Altoona. G-d Bless!
