School Story:
The infamous Bel Canto Miami Beach trip! Some of us actually behaved ourselves! Somehow we did a great job at the concert. (A composer of one of our pieces was actually in the audience.) This was in 1980. In 1981 Bel Canto went to Corpus (less rowdy this time) for the Greater Southwest Music Festival and we got 3 "outstandings" for mixed, boys, and girls choirs, which had not happened in the festival since the mid 50's. I also remember being in Mrs. Hogue's Advanced English class and doing a class project on e e cummings. Then poor Mr. Huber had to undo the damage done from Mrs. Hogue's teaching us how to write a composition the following year. I was nicknamed "Sacker Jack" because I worked at United Supermarkets. It was hard work during "Double Stamp" days. Remember S&H green stamps? Last but not least, I'll always remember Carol Mumme's Christmas parties. They were awesome!
