I have had an exciting and diverse career. Starting out as a school teacher (exit interview question from UMass: "Do you want to be a teacher, a nurse, or how many words a minute do you type?" Then I turned a part time after work job into a 4- year career as the first woman independent rep in the piece goods (fabric) industry travelling the 6 state New England territory. Married/divorced and moved to DC where I worked for a nonprofit public policy organization. I joined the Reagan Administration at the Department of Education, went on to the Senate confirmed position as DIrector of the Institute of Museum Services, then on to the White House as Associate Director of Presidential Personnel where I met my second husband - Dick and got my MBA at age 40 from Virginia Tech. After the end of the administration I went across the street to the Corcoran Museum and School as Vice President for Development and Special Events. Next I found my true passion for entrepreneurs and was tapped to be the founding Executive Director of an SBA-backed women's business training center in DC. From there I did a two year stint as a consultant to small business and nonprofits. I wrote the business plan for the creation of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council which I led for 10 years and helped expand its reach through 14 regional affiliates. Currently President Emeritus and WBENC will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2017. After a career pause to deal with a brain tumor, Dick and I moved to NYC where I was President of the Leader to Leader Institute. Currently semi-retired mentoring small businesses and selling residential real estate. I am working on my 6th book which I hope to complete in 2017.
