A memorial service for Baldur B Arnold, 66, was held Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview, TX.

Baldur was born September 29, 1942, in San Antonio and passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008. He was a Christian man who was devoted to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren, and was well known as a loyal friend.


Baldur grew up in Austin, graduated from McCallum High School and then the University of Texas, and served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Texas Professional Engineers and served as secretary for Society of Manufacturing Engineers.


Baldur was preceded in death by his parents, Baldur B Arnold, Sr. and Lucille King Arnold. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Van Nguyen Arnold; daughter, Amanda Arnold; daughter and son-in law, Chad and Cinnamon Nemec, daughter and son-in-law, Rudolph and Azure Reetz; three sisters, Sue Abraham, Joy Moden and husband, Merle, and Ann Arnold; five grandchildren, Colista, Chili, Cézanne, Sophia, Ellis; along with mother- and father-in-law, sisters- and brothers-in-law of the Nguyen family and numerous cousins, nephews and a niece.

Baldur and I were big buddies. We went to elem. jr. high and high school together and attended Brentwood Church Of Christ through high school. We use to race our cars after church behind Brentwood school.

I have a ton of fond memories of Baldur and his family and was sad to hear of his passing..
