Billie Margaret Slade Billie Margaret Johnson/Slade was born September 22, 1943 and passed away on July 3, 2011 at the age of 67. Preceding her in death are her beloved son, Troy Slade, who died of cancer at age 18; and her loving parents, Kenneth and Eva Johnson. She is survived by sisters and brother-in-law, Charlotte Moore, Ella Rode and husband Byron; nephews and nieces, Jay Moore and wife Dana, Jeffery Moore, Kenny Moore, Brenda Jennings and husband Rusty, Beverly Wendlandt and husband Ted and Sherry Moody. She also cherished her relationships with numerous great nephews, nieces and many friends. Billie graduated from McCallum High School and worked at various jobs, the last being the Texas Department of Public Safety, before retiring in 1993 because of a severe disability resulting from a fall. She was a very dedicated worker and well liked by everyone. She received an award for special "recognition and appreciation for many years of outstanding and dedicated service to the Department of Public Safety Christmas Decorating Committee." Billie was very talented and also worked part time decorating cakes and making flower arrangements. Special thanks are given to caregivers Laura Trevino and Janie Reyna, who gave Billie many years of love and special care during the years of her disability. Recognition is given to both Heartland Health Care Center and Odyssey Hospice for their dedicated care and compassion for Billie. Although Billie has now gone to heaven to join her son and parents, she will always remain in the hearts and minds of all who love her. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Ave., Austin, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery. Pallbeares will be Jay Moore, Jeffery Moore, Kenny Moore, Joe Jennings, Jerry Barth, Edward Barth, Finley Barth and Troy Schrader.
