Just doing some research as I write about my history on this planet. From time to time, Melba and I used to walk home together after school at Rosedale Elem. We were in 3rd grade, I think. I lived at 4214 Ramsey Ave., she at 4112 Sinclair. One day I asked if I could carry her books for her! We were both nervous at this turn of events. Several days later she asked if I wanted to come over and play at her house. We sat on her front porch and played jacks and pickup sticks. Her mom brought us cookies and iced tea on occasion.

Then on day, while walking home, me carrying her books, I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek! First girl I ever kissed, except of course my mom! Then, as time went on, we grew apart, or maybe drifted apart when my family moved and I went to Highland Park Elem. for 4th grade and then on to Lamar.

So in doing research, I just found out she passed away in 1987, cancer. Sad to find this out. And the world keeps on turning.

Im so sorry to hear of Melba'x passing. It is always a shame to hear about our

schoolmates, especially when it has been so long ago and we knew nothing of it.

I hope all of her family knows how our class was so close and we all cared about

each other.  God Bless her and her family...
