Bricks for the memorial were donated by Belden Brick Company. Belden is a family owned and family operated brick manufacturer in Canton Ohio. The donation was arranged by our masonry contractor Lencyk Masonry of Youngstown. Lencyk's owner, Mr. Larry Lencyk is also donating technical support and supervision for the project. Mr. Lencyk worked with their supplier Masonry Materials Plus of Youngstown, to arrange the donation. Masonry Materials Plus is also donating the mortar for the project as well as the concrete blocks that will be used to build the skeleton for the memorial. Thank you all for your help and friendship.
Additional thank you to Don Hall Excavating for donating the digging of the footer and and to the Austintown Rotary Club for donating the concrete. The person doing the finishing work was none other than Mr. Jim Penk, Senior Principal, Austintown Middle School. Jim will also be helping the electrician run the power to illuminate the momument.
Bricklayers Local 8 and Lencyk Masonry is building the Monument which will include the mounting of the FITCH sign and the laser engraved granite plaques.
We also must recognize and thank Mr. Mal Culp for all his help. He has been with us from the beginning and we could not have gotten this accomplished without him.
