Our 11th and 12th grade classes were large and working after school every day prevented me becoming involved in many school activities. (I did manage to join Future Teachers of America club. My motive wasn't exactly an interest in teaching, but rather an interest in a future teacher.
My future wife, Georgia Mordt was in that group)
I remember my impression of Harry as being quiet and studious. He laughed at a few silly jokes I made and we talked a little between classes. In our Sr Year I recall that Harry and I discussed joining the army. I don't remember seeing him again after graduation. Seeing Harry's photo brought his photo brought him back to me.
I appreciate the Avondale site. Thank you for it.
Happy Birthday!!

David, I appreciate your tribute to Rocky Adams. I also had some men to help me to become a better man. My brother-n-law Charles King was one of them. He was a strong man, a decorated Korean War vet, a devoted Christian and a hard worker. I was living with my sister and Charles when I graduated from Avondale. Sadly, I conducted his funeral in 2018. I thank God for the enfluence he had upon my life.
By the way, David, I remember you from Avondale. We had some classes together.
It was a long time ago, but in our senior year you and I spoke about joining the Army after graduation. I tried, but that didn't work out for me because after graduation I went to join, but failed the physical. I had a kidney infection. Later I was reclassified 1-A but was in college by that time and they didn't draft me. So my life took a different turn. Hope you are well.
Happy Birthday!!

I had a class or two with Bill. He was a big, outgoing guy and enjoyed talking about cars. I believe his car was a 1956 Ford, but that was a lot of years ago and I could be wrong about that. He stopped in to buy gas at the Gulf Station where I helped out the year we graduated. Bill Calhoun may have the first 1964 Class graduate to die. Those of us who knew him were shocked to hear that he had died in a car crash.
Forever grateful for the teachers and friends I had at Avondale. Especially meeting my future wife there! A statement I read recently said, "It's not too late and your'e not too old to be a friend to someone who needs you." Glad for this site to help reconnect us with some of those friends.
