After High School I worked full time and attended Cal Poly Pomona for what seemed like forever! I got caught in the vicious cycle of 'gotta work to go to school', so I took the path less traveled, but I finally finished my B.A. in Behavioral Science in 1995 (in the midst of planning a wedding and actually getting married, I might add!)
I met the man I would marry at the Safari Bar (ah, memories) at KROQ nite on Wednesday, July 19, 1990. He asked me to dance, gave me a little kiss goodnight, and that was it. Stick a fork in me, I was done! We got married Feb 5, 1994 (just celebrated our 15th anniversary!).
I took a bit of a break from the college grind in '96-97, then jumped back on the merry-go-round in Sept. '97 to tackle grad school. I plowed through my Masters in Health Administration, which I completed in 1999 at the University of La Verne. My hubby kept our home sane by assuming the role of 'Patient, Supportive Spouse who does Dishes and Laundry for Frantic Wife' for about 2 years (in addition to his job, of course...)
Sadly, we found out the hard way that having kids was going to be a difficult journey. My body doesn't like to be pregnant, as I developed severe hypertension with our first pregnancy in 2000. We lost our first daughter at 21 weeks gestation, and I would struggle with both of my subsequent pregnancies to stay healthy enough to let our babies 'stay in the oven'.
We are blessed to have a beautiful daughter, Amanda, who is now 7, and to our great surprise and delight, our son Zachary was born in 2007. He's 2, and quite a charmer! Our nest is now full, and we get to enjoy the day to day family dynamics of being in our 40's and having small children!
As far as work, my husband owns a pool business and I have traditionally been employed as a program manager in health care. The last few years have been bumpy with economy-induced job transition, maternity leaves, etc., but I think it's smooth sailing now that I'm back to work full time (fingers and toes crossed)!
Well, that's me since 1984. Can't wait to see you all again and share war stories of SVHS!!!
