A Plymouth Barracuda was my favorite. I learned to drive by getting in a 1962 Chevrolet Corvair that had a standard transmission.

To save a story for younger generations about what life was like when you were young, what was different, what stories would you tell?

When I would awaken in the morning the radio or one of three TV channels were heard- no computers or smart phones. Those were items of science fiction. Shortly after awakened the distant sound of 100s of hammers could be heard. Housing was being built at an alarming rate as this was post WWII and a major housing boom. All building materials were manually attached so hammers were heard instead of air nailers.
Adams Blvd. was a very narrow gravel road known as Toalson Rd. The gravel stretched from Marie's Restaurant to Madison Blvd. A short section of Madison Blvd was rural, country road, partially gravel.
On Friday nights high school football home-games were attended by hundreds of students. These were social gatherings that were greatly anticipated . Dances were held afterward at the Civic Center, the location of the new Bartlesville Library. Great memories.

Tell a story about a memorable moment with an eccentric relative.

My crazy Uncle in Arkansas who always carried grape juice that he stored under his car's seat. When I was at my grandparents during the summer, he'd take several of his young nephews to go fishing. I was one. Several times we went to a 100 yard section of the White River that was absolutely beautiful. A vast length of that area became Beaver Lake. My Uncle would take a row boat and have us row the boat while he fished. The grape juice? It was wine, but he'd never drink when he had us with him on those fishing trips. As soon as he dropped us off, he'd smoke a cigarette and sometimes reach for his "grape" juice.

GEB, my nickname, is from my intitials. Glen Elkan came up with it.

Tell the story of a first or memorable kiss.

Haha, we were both very young and timid. It was successful, I thought.

Write a letter to the young you. What advise would you give?

Don't do anything silly or on a dare. Think for yourself and think on it as long as you need to make the correct decision.

If this was to be your very last conversation, is there anything you’d want to say?

Mr. Jack was my 7th grade shop teacher and he was a lot of fun as a teacher. I remember we had metal shop, but we also made a tooled leather belt. Not easy to do, but he patiently taught us how it was done. My brother rented a home of his located on east Tuxedo Blvd, so we had that connection. As you know, his athletic abilities were phenominal and when school was out for the summer he and a friend would run from the Madison parking lot to the mound located near P66's research center. Often, when they finished their run, they would spot for each other at the weight bench. He was always a teacher who was black or white with his answers, no gray area. I appreciated that. May he RIP..
