Sheila M. Quincey, 78, of Batavia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at Cottage Grove Memory Care in Rochester, N.Y., surrounded by her family.

Sheila was born on Feb. 4, 1943, in Batavia, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Francis T. “Frenchie” and Bernice (Peters) Chatt and stepdaughter to the late Marie P. (Eischen) Chatt. Sheila is predeceased by her husband of 40 years, John M. Quincey in October 2020.

She is survived by her brother, Ned F. (Carole) Chatt Sr., and sister, Rebecca Chatt (Stephen) Swanson, both of Batavia. In addition, surviving children are, Christopher (Valerie) Liles of Byron, Jeremy (Sandy) Liles of Batavia and Ashley (Jason) Mlyniec of Rochester; stepdaughters, Lana (Gary) Cotsonas of Homosassa, Fla., and Kimberly Quincey of Dade City, Fla.; grandchildren, Kevin (Agnies) Liles, Samantha (Jeff) Staub, Harley Dorman, Talon Gauthier, Jesse Young, Trinity Liles, Tahlia Liles, Nathaniel Mlyniec, Alana Mlyniec and Kyle Mlyniec; great-grandchildren, Madison Liles, Haydin Gauthier, Jayce Gauthier, Camdin Gauthier and Ayla Davila; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

For many years, Sheila volunteered at the United Memorial Medical Center cafe, earning a recognition for volunteering over 1,000 hours. Sheila loved to bake, garden, cross stitch and crochet. She has knitted numerous quantities of blankets for family and friends, all custom and unique. Sheila was an avid gardener and enjoyed golfing and playing tennis with her husband. She was a wonderful homemaker dedicated to her family and grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Cottage Grove Memory Care for their friendship and devotion to Sheila.

A private service will be held for immediate family members. A celebration of life for Sheila and John will be planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.

Sheila and John (who passed away just this last October) ran Oliver's Candies on West Main Street for many years and served as gracious hosts at our reunions. We will miss the both of them.
