Gerald M. "Jerry" Halfenger  March 29, 1943 - January 8, 2003

BATAVIA - Gerald M. "Jerry" Halfenger, 59, of Batavia, an avid golfer, gardener and hunter who worked as a sales representative for many years at VWR International of Bridgeport, N.J., died Wednesday (Jan. 8, 2003) at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.

Mr. Halfenger was born March 29, 1943, in Batavia, a son of the late Morris and Freda Morris Halfenger. He was a graduate of Batavia High School and Michigan State University and was a member of St. Mary's Church. He also was a member of BPOE 950.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Joan Pacino Halfenger of Batavia; a son, Michael (Melissa) Halfenger of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; a brother, Richard (Melody) Halfenger of California; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kyleigh Halfenger of Whitefish Bay; mother-in-law, Shirley Pacino of Batavia; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, James (Patti) Pacino of Batavia, Judi (Frank) Maluso of California, Janice (Keith) Hunt of Batavia, Melanie (Craig) Cohen of Buffalo, and Pamela (Patrick) Mills of Buffalo; nieces, Nicole (Greg) Gibb of California, Kristen and Jennifer Pacino of Buffalo, and Emily Halfenger of California; nephews, Jeffery and John Konarski of Batavia, Joshua Pacino of Batavia, Philip and Daniel Cohen of Buffalo; aunts and uncles; and friends George and Veronica Van Nest of Clarence Center.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gilmartin Funeral Home, 329-333 West Main St., where services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery.
