Charles E. Roberts

Charles E. Roberts, 89, of Arlington, Mass., a former English teacher in the Batavia school system, died Saturday, October 26, 1991, at Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, Mass.

Mr. Roberts was born January 4, 1902, in Mount Pelier, Ind., a son of the late Jay Porter and Mary Sheedy Roberts.

He taught English at Batavia high School for approximately 32 years and was advisor for the yearbook before his retirement in 1969. He moved to Arizona in 1973, where he lived until the death of his wife, Gladys Roberts, in 1989. He graduated from Syracuse University magna cum laude in 1932.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Roberts of Arlington, Mass., and Jeffrey Roberts of Queens, and a grandson, Benjamin David Roberts.

Private services will be in Arlington.
