Meid Creighton Mackey



Meid Creighton Mackey, loving husband and best friend, inseparable in life and in death, passed away on June 27, 2004, at 1:30 a.m. as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Marie Mackey; his son, Colt Alan Meid Mackey; his daughters, Brea and Kallie Kratzer, Erika Parker and Alexandria Mackey; his parents, Maurice and Helen Cooper Mackey; his brothers, Neil and Leslie Mackey from West Lafayette, Ind., and their children, Morgan and Kiera, and Dr. Kent and Julie Mackey from Fort Wayne, Ind., and their children, Brent, Erick and Tyler; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Alan Mackey.

He was co-founder and partner of Eye-Mart with Dr. Robert Taylor. He was a doctor of optometry, graduating from Indiana University, School of Optometry in 1977.

He was an active real estate investor.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

He was an antique farm equipment enthusiast and had rebuilt several early model John Deere tractors.

He enjoyed traveling with his family in their RV. He actively participated in Judo at Morris Dynamics and loved martial arts in general.

He maintained a working sawmill, which he used to construct many of the buildings on his property.

He and his wife were Harley Davidson enthusiasts and had attended the Sturgis, South Dakota, Rally for the last 10 years.

A festivity honoring Dr. Mackey will be held for family and friends at the Hornet's Nest, Wednesday, June 30, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m.
