Patricia D. “Patty” Thompson, 67, of Oaktown, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville with her family at her side.

Patty was born on May 22, 1952 in Vincennes, the daughter of Joseph D. and Anna Domin Stanczak. She was a graduate of North Knox High School and held an associate degree in business. She married John R. Thompson IV on Oct. 9, 1971 and they made their life together for nearly 48 years. She formerly worked at Bicknell Health Care and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, was active in various Homemaker Clubs, was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and formerly was a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed her family, loved babysitting her grandchildren and watching them, going to whatever state they lived in.

Patty is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, John R. Thompson IV; their children, Jamie Thompson and Yvonne Amlett of Terre Haute, Ryan Thompson and Corinna of Harrison, Arkansas, Janeen Shoffner and Jason of Fishers, and Tessa Hutson and Andrew of Paris, Illinois; her beloved grandchildren, Allyssa Thompson, Kelbie Thompson, Sabrina Thompson, Hallie Thompson, Julie Thompson, Nathan Botello, Michael Platt, Matthew Thompson, Nathaniel Shoffner, Katelynn Shoffner, Alexandra Shoffner, Easton Hutson and Cooper Hutson; a brother, Joseph David Stanczak and his wife, Betty, of Vincennes; her sisters, Stephanie Jones and her husband, Bob, of Litchfield, Illinois, and Cathy Jones and her husband, Larry, of Gainsboro, Tennessee; and her step-sisters, Cathy Joan Emmons of Elnora and Penny McCloud and her husband, Chris, of Bloomfield.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joseph Stanczak Jr.; and five sisters, Josephine Pahmeier and Betty Haney and three in infancy.

Funeral services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel in Bicknell with FatherTony Ernst officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Welch Diabetes Center at Good Samaritan Hospital or the National Kidney Foundation.
