Thomas “Tink” Held Obituary

Thomas "Tink" J. Held, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, left this world on December 16, 2023, at the age of 71. Born in Washington, Indiana on September 24, 1952, Tink grew up to be a man admired for his adventurous spirit and zest for life. He then went to live in Freelandville (the center of the universe).

In Vincennes, Indiana, where Tink passed away, he leaves behind hearts filled with memories of his joyful and eventful life. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Cindy Shidler Held, whom he married at Bethel Church on June 28, 1985. Their union was a testament to commitment and love, creating a family that included his daughters Shannon Jones Opell of Vincennes and Brandy Jones Groves of Robinson, Illinois. The legacy of his warmth and guidance lives on through his five beloved grandchildren: Hunter and Bailey Jones of Vincennes; Corbin Minnich of Indianapolis; Gracie and Gavin Groves of Robinson, Illinois.

Tink's early years were spent in the nurturing care of his parents, Joan "Joey" Niewald Held and Herbert "Ike" Held of Freelandville, and he always held dear the memories of his late brother, Bill Held, of Freelandville. His working years were dedicated to the RC Cola Company, where he retired after 38 years, leaving a legacy of hard work and loyalty.

Passionate about the Indy 500 and NHRA Drag Racing, Tink reveled in the thrill of competition. He found joy in the roar of Husqvarna Dirt Bikes and the challenge of hare scrambles and enduros. A lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, he also had a love for music, especially that of Elvis, which brought rhythm to his footsteps. Tink's greatest pride, however, was in his grandchildren, and he supported every endeavor they undertook with unwavering enthusiasm.

Per Tink’s wishes there will be no service, however the family welcomes online condolences to be left at www.fredrickandson.com. Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell Chapel is honored to assist the Held Family with arrangements.
