CHARLES E. 'CHUCK' TISCHER, age 66, of Bloomfield Hills, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Heartland Health Care Center, in Troy, Michigan following a long battle with cancer. He was born on April 12, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio, to George William and Gertrude Tischer, and was raised in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Education: Chuck graduated from Birmingham Seaholm High School in 1962. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa.

Occupation: After service in the U.S. Army, Mr. Tischer worked in sales for Central Steel & Wire Company, in the Detroit office for over 36 years, becoming a Senior Inside Sales Representative.

In his spare time, Mr. Tischer enjoyed walking his dogs, sailing, aviation history and museums, and was a connoisseur of cigars.

Military: Following graduation from college, Mr. Tischer was drafted into the U.S. Army (October 11, 1967 - October 10, 1973). He was involved in military intelligence and served a tour in Europe achieving the rank of Specialist before being honorably discharged. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, a Marksman M-14 Medal, a Certificate of Achievement, and a Good Conduct Medal.

Surviving Son: Charles Wales Tischer 'Chip' (Janelle)
Grandson: Charles Wales Tischer, II 'Carter'
Surviving Sisters: Sandra Bonham Rowley (Dick) and Nancy Lutomski Smith (Lloyd)
Surviving Brother: George W. Tischer (Terry)
