From Reyers North Valley Chapel Funeral Home site: "Douglas B. Roberts, age 74, passed away surrounded by family on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018. He was born on May 24, 1944, in San Diego, California to the late F. Leon Roberts and Ruth Lathrop (Abel). Doug is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wanda Roberts; three children, Jennifer Brown (James), Matthew Roberts (Julie), and Nicholas Roberts (Heather); six grandchildren, Jacob, Sophia, Ella, Jackson, Olivia, and Sydney; two sisters, Madelyn Klusowski (Ed), Linda Morel (Russ); and many other friends and family who will miss him dearly. Doug served our country and protected our freedoms through his service in the US Navy. After leaving the Service, he worked as the Assessor for Grand Rapids Township for 32 years. Also, Doug was a commited member of American Legion, where he served as the Sargeant of Arms for Post 258. Doug enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling. Most recently, he and his wife, Wanda, took the trip of a lifetime to Australia and New Zealand. Lastly, Doug's faith was very important to him, as demonstrated by his 48-year membership with Central Christian Church. Visitation for Doug will take place on Tuesday, November 27, from 5 - 7 pm, at Reyers North Valley Chapel Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow on Wednesday, November 28, at 11 am at Central Christian Church. Burial will follow at Georgetown Township Cemetery."
