From the Detroit News 3/29/23: "Edgar W. Pugh Jr. passed away on March 25, 2023, at the age of 78. Ed was the son of Edgar and Claire Pugh. He grew up in Birmingham, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State University. He received his juris doctorate from Wayne State University Law School in 1971. He was proud that both of his daughters also became lawyers: Diana joined him in practice in 1998; Deborah is an appellate public defender in Chicago. Ed enthusiastically volunteered for many organizations dedicated to the public good and served on Beverly Hills Village Council. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, gardening, reading, and passing on bad jokes, but, more than anything, he loved to be with family and friends. Ed is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon Merritt Pugh; his daughters, Diana (Bob) Moak and Deborah Pugh (Jim Shapiro); his grandchildren, Jacob Moak, Hadley Moak, and Jane Shapiro; his sister, Jacqueline (Colin) Stewart; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, April 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Desmond Funeral Home in Royal Oak. Funeral service will be Monday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Birmingham.
