In Memory

Ron Dickinson

Ron Dickinson was born in Spokane, WA in March 1943. He grew up in Kenmore, a Seattle suburb, with younger brothers Ken and Don and their parents Carl and Mary. He graduated from Bothell High School in 1961. Ron attended the University of Washington, earning degrees in business and law. In January 1964 he played saxophone in the Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl as a member of the Husky Marching Band.

After earning his law degree, Ron joined the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps for three years of active duty. He then remained in the reserves until retirement.

Ron was the Mercer Island City Attorney for 22 years, serving the community where he and his wife Victoria built their home. He enjoyed many social activities, especially being pitcher for a slow-pitch softball team whose members were his life-long friends.

In 1994, following his retirement from the City of Mercer Island, Ron became a federal judge in the Social Security Hearing Office. He worked in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Charleston, SC and Phoenix, AZ until his retirement from federal service in May 2013.

With a sense of curiosity and adventure, Ron and Victoria enjoyed travel both abroad and throughout the U.S., including a 3.5-month trip along the coast from California to Seattle this summer.  Highlights among their other mutual pleasures were golf, a wine club and barbecues with amazing friends.

Ron unexpectedly passed away on September 12, 2015, only two days before their planned return to their Phoenix home. He is survived by his wife Victoria, daughter Laura, son Ashley, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
