Dirk D. Hogan

October 6, 1955 - February 22, 2026

With hearts full of love and sorrow, we share the passing of Dirk D. Hogan on February 20, 2026. He now joins his father and a son who went before him.

Dirk's legacy lives on through his mother Ruth Ann; his siblings Roger, Julie, Kelly, and Joni: and his beloved wife Laurie.

Dirk's children Eliza. Emilee, Chelsea, and Dirk Jr. He welcomed Gordon, Telle'Rae, Stacey, and Ian into his life and heart as his own.

Dirk leaves behind eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each a bright light in his life that brought him immense joy,

To Dirk, family was never conditional or divided; it was absolute.

A heartfelt mention goes to Lucy, who stayed loyally by his side,

Growing up. Dirk was endlessly curious about how the world worked. He had a real thirst for knowledge and a remarkable photographic memory. He was the kind of kid who took things apart just to see how it worked, a curiosity stayed with him throughout his life. He had an eve for detail sometimes to a fault.

Dirk loved working on cars and earned a scholarship in mechanics. He served an LDS mission in Oakland, California. Dirk then attended Westminster College to study accounting, later joining his father in the tax preparation business. They spent many years working side by side. Dirk eventually moved on to work for one of his clients, serving as CFO for many years before retiring.

Retirement didn't slow him down. Dirk loved being outdoors working in the yard, cutting down trees, tearing down walls, remodeling with precision and pride. Most importantly. he finally had the freedom to do the things he loved most and go on vacation, golf and camp whenever he wanted.

"WWDD" What would Dirk Do? Dirk was the "fix-it' guy, solving problems and sharing his knowledge of the ins and outs of most problems.

No reflection on Dirk would be complete without mention of his enduring pursuit, the golf course. He respected the game's demand for patience and its refusal to reward shortcuts. Those who shared a fairway with him know he approached each round with seriousness and resolve.

As life evolved so did the tone and color of his character. He left an enduring imprint on all who knew him. He met his final winter with resolve, composure and courage, the same way he lived, deliberate, principled and unafraid.

Dirk had such a sense of humor. In a health class I had with him he would frequently lay his head down. One day Phill Johnson was lecturing on the evils of marijunna, and Dirk lifted his head, pointing his index finger up and proclaimed "But it cures Glaucoma" then proceeded to lay his head back down. The class and Phill himself was in an uproar. Make em laugh in Heaven dear Dirk, you will be missed.
