Joe Horkan

4/9/1956 - 12/19/2020

Our brother, Joseph William Horkan, born April 9, 1956, passed away on December 19, 2020.

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Joe loved the great outdoors and was the family storyteller. He told countless stories, childhood tales, family tales, and funny tales. We may not have believed everything he said, but there’s one thing that’s true--his stories were given as presents to us. Now that his story has ended, he’ll still be alive in the tales that he has given us.

He is survived by his siblings Phil (Janet), Linda (Jack), Rita, Connie (Lynn), Larry, many nieces and nephews, Karen Day, and John Snow. Joe is preceded in death by his parents John and Beverly Horkan.

Interment will be at Camp Williams Veterans Cemetery 17111 S. Camp Williams Road (1700 W), Bluffdale, UT 84065 on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

A celebration of life will be held in Spring 2021.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Utah Food Bank.

Rest In Peace Joe!!

I enjoyed every one of our excursions in your truck, even when we got it sideways sliding backwards down the hill! I'm glad the oakbrush was strong enough to hold us from flipping over. That was a long cold walk out, and a long night getting it upright and safely down the hill.

It was an honor to call you a friend.
