Carrol-

Thank you for sending out the Christmas Party announcement.  Here's some more details.  The only cost is for the cost of the buffet which is @ $20.00.  There is no agenda-just feasting, fellowship and fun.  Hope we see everyone there or at least as many as possible.

Does anyone know what happened to Larry Thomas?

Marian Sahr (Bullard)

I was told Larry lives in California. Not sure. He was a great guy!

I had his sister in the pool on Lazy Lane in about '77. She told me some stories. He married a psychiatrist. She passed bec of a brain tumor, but remarried after living in LV, Nev. , to go on to CA. Any more I can't remember or might be just bullship. All that after almost playing for the CO football team for coach McGowan. He may have.

Mike, when I was in Las Vegas in the early 80s, Skip was coaching at a HS there.   He came by the hotel and picked me up and took me all over Vegas, then we went to his home and had dinner with his wife and family... I had him as friends on facebook a few years ago but his account is no longer active...

Doug Oden said he saw Larry in a restaurant Doug was managing in LV years ago, but by the time Doug could get free from a staff meeting, Larry had left.

Greg,

He played a year or two at Colorado, then a year at SF Austin I believe.  Last time I saw him was summer of 1974 or 75 when the Oilers held their summer camp at Sam Houston.  He was trying out.  Next time I stopped by he was gone.

Carrol Reneau (Jeffers)

So . . . since I was old enough to remember  (and I'm talking as a child!) I've had the same 2 New Year's Resolutions:

1.  lose weight

2.  STOP SWEARING

My resolution this year is to learn to live with these 2 things (well, okay, of late, the offensive language is waaaaay better - less and mostly no worse than 7 pm tv sitcoms.  Still, not proud of it).

If I were 20 years old, oh, the things I would do differently!

1.  I would focus on the educational opportunities I had.  Yes, I have a Master's degree but I didn't pay attention to so much of it.

2.  I would also hope that my integrity would have kicked in sooner!  I don't know how I remained clueless for so much of my life.  (I mostly mean that  I  passively accepted bad behavior from others.)

3.  My walk with God would have begun much, much sooner.  I did what I did and learned what I learned and He protected me inspite of myself.  I am so grateful for the lessons.

Okay, the challenge has been issued.  What about you?

Happy New Year to all you beautiful people.  My resolution is to not have a resolution.....haha.  But....I will lose the 23  Pounds I've gained in almost three years.  I CANT STAND ME....LOLOLOL!!!  Take care and be safe.!!!!!

Barbara Ludeman (Frazier)

Okay, Carrol Reneau Jeffers, here goes...

I don't do New Year's Resolutions because I am doing good trying to live on a one-day-at-a-time basis.

If I were 20?  I would not change a thing.  I made some good decisions and some not so wise decisions back then.  However, that said, God carried me through and led me into a lot of things and one of the best things that ever happened to me was meeting the Marine that became my dear husband - of now 42 years.

The most recent resolution I am working on is to let go of the past that burdens me with a sense of failure and shame and learn to live with and accept what I feel are my shortcomings and learn to accept myself as I am just as God accepts me.  I know this all sounds a little heavy but I have always been a rather serious person.  Luckily, God has blessed me with a husband, two sons and their wives and six grandchildren, not to mention a dear lady that I work with, who remind me regularly - one way or another - not to take everything so darn seriously!

Nope. Reality is a bit harsher than we might've thought, but not as bad as it could be, just think folks. You could be bald-headed! Heehee  no NYRs are a hope! My daily is the best hope. Now that we know that's how thingz werk. Like twerk, heehee. Unless sumpin serial happinz, I'm keepin on keepin on. I just caint do back flipz like
I could just the day before my lil "accident"! Well that's what they call CVAs. Again, a heehee. Ifn ya' cain't take that, well luck to ya'

I'm with Barbara, I wouldn't change a thing!   Not that life is perfect, but it has been a great adventure and what kind of adventure would it be or have been if I was able to plan it all, or avoid the pitfalls we all need to learn from?  My only resolution would be to be resolute in the face of aging - it is not the best part of the adventure so far!

Alice Day (Smith)

My New Year Resolution:

1. I would have kept hold of our life insurance policies. Sadly, Eddie and I would see the new policy to have and change out. Not good!

2. I would have had more children.

3. I would have called mom and dad (and Eddie's parents too) like every other day. I see how easy it is to begin depression starting at our age. I heard my mother at 87 years old say she was depressed, but because this had NEVER been something she struggled with, I ignored it. BAD DECISION. I could have spent more time with her, encouraged her and taken her out more.

4. I would have saved more money for retirement. But in the ministry, there are many times as an evangelist you have to begin to live out of your own retirement to survive. Had to do that starting 2009 until 2013. Not cool, but a fact of reality....because I'm sure I won't ever get to retire. Not so bad because it does keep me active.

5. I would have made someone who was in their 60-70s tell me the challenges for getting old so I wouldn't be so shocked! I have been shocked that it's harder to get up and down. It's easy to get dizzy if I move too fast. It's easy to put on weight. It's easy to forget what you went into a room for. It's easy to fall asleep in the middle of a movie. It's SO HARD TO PUT OUT AND PUT UP CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS. Ugh. :-)

6. I am so thrilled that my relationship with Jesus Christ began when I was 15. So the one area I am happy with and wouldn't change is my spiritual growth, the people I have helped and served and the many nations I have gone to. And since the eternal is more important than the physical, I have nothing to be concerned with at all. Life is precious and full of joy.

You guys are good. We all have a lot to look back on and look forward to. Carol if I were to change any thing it would to have been other than bottom of the class grade wise and not so shy. Greg you probably have the right idea; "keep on keepin' on". I'm with you to Alice, talk to your parents every day, they won't be around much longer.

Besides all the typical stuff for New Years we should remember that we are now entering the senior statesman time of our lives and we should respect it, act like it, support it, and teach it.

Sorry if I got a little serious.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!

Judy Teague (Crenshaw)

OK, I'll play.

If I were 20 I would tell that 20 yr old, she is pretty, just right weight, and the best "you" you can be at 20.  I would tell her to love herself and others, and most importantly, trust yourself.  That inner voice should be the loudest and the one you listen to the most.  I remember the quote, "To thine own self be true."  I spent way too many years pleasing all but myself.  When one is at peace with oneself, and loves himself in a healthy manner, there is more to give and love others.

As for News Years Resolutions, not too big on them, but this is my life goals:

1.  Live life to the fullest daily.

2.  Forgive quickly.

3.  Express love to others.

4.  Leave few regrets as possible.

Everyone have a blessed NY and know how blessed I am when I read your posts here or on facebook.

Don't really make resolutions, but here is what I will try to do this year.

1. Thank God daily for the blessings in my life.

2.. Take better care of myself.

3.. Take one day at a time.

4. Stop and smell the roses.

Linda Fluker (Carr)

Since I'm trying to share myself more, here is my desire for 2015.  It's a carryover from 2014 and my whole life.  Continue to be more and more aware of living from an attitude of love, however I can define that at the time. That pretty well embraces all my desires.

I will enjoy running into some of you this year and will do my best to come to our class gatherings.

Grace & Peace to each of you.

Linda
