Yes, Tony, lots of wonderful memories from the Methodist Church in Freeport.  Lois was always sweet and kind to everyone.  I did have some good visits with her while she was working at Hobby Lobby.  She had not changed a bit.  Sending much love to her family......  She will be missed by all.

I was looking back at some of the earlier posts and saw Reneau's 100 top hits for '69.  That was on KILT (before it became Country).  In my house, my dad did not watch TV.  He had his "portable transistor radio" on KTLW in Texas City, constantly.  [When he died, in 1988, the same radio was hanging in his barn]  He never missed the "Tater Pete (Hunter)" show. [Tater Pete was inducted into the Country Music DJ Hall of Fame in 1979.]  After sunset, when KTLW signed off, my dad would tune in KWKH in Shreveport, La.  That was a 100,000 watt station.  [That is equivalent to 1.21 jigawatts for you Back to the Future fans.]  It was home to the Louisiana (pronounced Luzy-ana) Hayride on Saturday Night.

I recognized everyone of Reneau's top 100 and could sing along with them all, if they were playing.  I could even get 32% of the words right.

How well you can do with these:

"Liza, you can let them shades up now."  [50 extra credit points if you know the significance of that statement]

Marion,

I can sing  all of the Cash songs, Merle's, Tammy's and Sonny's (and Buck's, too, but I don't want to admit that).   I was a big Charley Pride fan, had all the albums and 8 track tapes and saw him in a couple of concerts.  Your Dad's radio story made me smile.  (do I get extra points?)

I'm thinking of our first reading of 1984 back then while rereading it tonight. TV is not on now. Kinda wanting to rest, but upon beginning the first chapter again, guess what? Seems Big Brother then had no night vision, but everything else to monitor night n day. Night folks. Summer continues to start and it's 67 degrees F out at 1:45a n no mossies much yet! Got up after hearing a noise tumbling down my steps. Must've been a goblin, cats all look okay.

Carol, I read that you liked the Charley Pride songs.  Just a comment, I played golf a few times with Charley in Dallas.  He enjoys his golf and likes to joke around.  It was a fun time with him.

Tommy Risher was my lil bro's age. He passed recently. His obit has not been in the local wipe yet. Pop called it that. His funeral is in Austin on Sat. It was posted in the AA. Ken W. texted the obit pic to me. He and my brother Gary were golfing buds. Steve Lepper too. Debbie might know the particulars.  I quit FB last month. No withdrawals.

Ken Sr.,was a dentist in Lake Jackson,untill,1976,when he got a job with the State Dental dept.,in Austin, He always wanted to live in Austin, after gruadating from the Univ. of Texas. Our family enjoyed many great years in Austin, and i still do. He was a great father, and i will always miss him.  Sorry if some of the his life experiences aren't in proper order. My family also got to vacation in the summer's,in Colorado, for a number of years, and had a blast  up there in the mountains.  I can't say enought, about Ken Womack,Sr,D.D.S,,but as you all know, our parents are our best friends.   ps..groing up in Lake Jackson,tx,was great, and i'll won't forget all the fun times,at Surfside beach,Jasmine hall. the Lake Thearte, and all my friends at Brazosport Hight School!

We lost another classmate Sunday 5/10/15 Dianne Barron. Her sister is my neighbor & although Dianne was listed as a missing classmate --she has remained in the Freeport area since graduation. Dianne passed away from diabetic complications. Bless her heart, she has REALLY suffered the last 2 years so I'm glad she is no longer in pain but we will miss her. Dianne's ex was Guy Blanchard & they had children from that marriage. My heart goes out to the family God Bless Everyone

Thank you, Kathleen.  Dianne's obituary is now in the In Memory section.

Greg Hackney and Mike Piersall corrected my HUGE mistake regarding the Cox's daughters.  I am so sorry.

Carrol

Just F.Y.I.  Mrs. Libby Cox, wife of coach "Breezy" Cox, died this week.  She was a sweet, talented woman.  She taught some of us piano lessons when we were young. The Cox's had a daughter Cece in the class of 1968 who DID NOT die in a car wreck at a very early age.  Another daughter Cathy was a bit younger who DID die in a carwreck at a very young age.  Mrs. Cox's obituary may be seen in the May 13, 2015 edition of The Brazosport Facts.

Clara Elizabeth (Lib) Herring Cox, 88, of Lake Jackson, died May 9, 2015, after a short battle with leukemia.
