I'm very fortunate. I can still walk, funny-looking a little, can still see and can wear a hat so my noggin doesn't get too cold when riding my OM2WD, old man two wheel drive scooter thing, to the local Stop n Rob for milk! Still have all my teeth n a few crowns. More coming this year, though. I think I made sense, the big A hit my family, years ago, but not me, Yet!

Freeport Junior High Redskins, y'all remember science teacher, Mr. Bob Davidson?  I just saw his obit in The Facts this a.m.  Mr. Davidson was 83.  As scandalous as it sounds today,  my visusal  memory is of him sitting with his feet on his desk, smoking in class.  I also remember that he never missed the baseball World Series.  Did we even have t.v. in the classroom back then?  Or did he have his own portable?  Or just listen on a radio?  I  liked him and remember he was funny .  Did you know he had a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering?  After FJH he worked for Dow and then for Dowell Schlumberger in Corpus and then at Bee County College teaching Oil and Gas Technology.  He moved back to the Brazosport area in 2010.   Service will be at Stroud Funeral Home Chapel in Clute:  visitation is 6 - 8 pm Friday and service will be 10:00 Saturday.

Anytime someone made a 76 on a test or homework, he'd say "that's the spirit".  Never figured out what he meant unkess it was referring to 1776.

David Lorms, former shop teacher at 'port and 'wood also passed away last week.

In today's paper said Mrs. Roth passed away. She was the Home Economics teacher @ Freeport Jr High. I didn't take Home Economics but my sister, Connie, a couple of grades ahead of us did. Mrs. Roth went to our church though & seemed to be a very sweet feminine lady. She will be missed!

I went with Charles"Kitten" Murray and his mom, Heloise and his lil sis, Gina to the servicefor Gloria in Columbus last Tuesday at the Columbus Lutheran Church and then on to a hall outside town for eats. Oscar was my mentor at TW Ogg while I waited to replace him, upon his retirement. Kitten worked on Gloria for pain mngmnt. And cut their toenails as old folks can't bend like we used to. Heehee. She was a gem that Oscar was given by grace to have been joined with for almost 60 yrs. It was a nice service. Her "dash" on the tombstone date was the subject of the eulogy. Maybe you've heard of that sermon. I'd not. She subbed for Oscar when he was away for golf tournaments and we just carried on and laughed at certain problems we had with certain "problems" encountered at the job at Ogg. I was there for 26! He helped me for a good 10+ as my immediate boss under Mr. Terry Moore, a GREAT boss and principal! Gloria was a real trooper, never really complaining if she could have her one cigarette and maybe a beer every once in a long while. Hell, she had to wrangle him forever. They met in school. Ever hear him tell a short story?

Mrs. Roth was such a sweet, kind lady, and good teacher. I still have her chocolate sheet cake recipe she taught us to make.

FYI, damn it! She was in a lot of pain near the last, but as the preacher said not any more! She looked like I always remembered her in life!

I believe our team Clute Allstars beat Freeport Allstars in a Little League playoff game in 1962.  Maybe some of those guys played against us in that game lol😄

Oh, JWAIII can ya pick me up again? I'm not renting a car until next weekend for three days to get stuff done. When I had a vehicle I didnt use it! Man am I getting old slowly, heehee. Kit is ferrying me around some. He buys,  then I buy, then. The Austin trip really showed my age, but through all the failings of the mechanical things we prevailed. I got to see about seven guys I hadn't seen since about '73. I recognized most of them. Next year I might even go to the decathlon which was why I went this year. By the way, the LBJ parking lot is not public parking any more. And the 911 thing is for anything it seems in Austin. Twice, perfect strangers used that term for semi-threats re: something they didnt like about where we were parked in two different places. Do you suppose all college towns are like this? Dont answer itza rhetorical thing. May 7th? Rambling was Mrs. Huff's problem, when I did use pen n paper. Mine, not hers. She was a nice patient teacher.
