Carrol, Joy,Dee, and all BHS of 69ers, lets leave the grandkids out of this. I totally agree with Carrol. That could only lead to a hair-pullin, nose-bleedin, butt-bustin brawl. Now that is NOT what I want to travel 4 states away for and take off work. I had this image in my head of a giant group hug while we sing (or listen to) an Eagles song. But if we bring up the grandkid competition, I only vision Jerry Springer ending.

O.K. Now I feel better.

I love all the updates here and laugh alot.

Now ya'll get back to talkin nice and I'll pitch in now and then.

Question:

Does anyone ever wonder as they go about in their travels whether or not you are passing some of our classmates and or others from BHS or the Brazosport area unaware...I catch myself now after reading individuals profiles and the message forum, how we are scattered out across Texas and the USA....just a thought maybe we are encountering classmates unaware..

The sun is shining at Texas Motor Speedway and Corvettes galore are racing around the 1.5 mile oval and roadcourse. Lone Star Corvette Club members are giving rides to Make-a-Wish kids--the smiles on their faces are PRICELESS! Yesterday's car show was slightly "dampened" by rains but the displays were high and dry under the grandstands. John was awarded 1st Place in our Class for Show'nShine (participant voting). If you missed it, put it on your calendar for next year--3rd weekend in May 2010.

CONGRATULATIONS, JOHN & WINONA! Thanks for the picture and the updates. Sounds like great fun and love that y'all contribute to the Make-a-Wish kids.

JD...hi! your pictures on your website are awesome!!!! A real world traveler!!! Have fun!!!!

Beauty.... Carrol you wanted to know some of my secrets...Well, about 10 years ago I started wearing mineral powder...not just any because most have fillers and talc. It is called La Bella Donna LOOSE mineral powder...the phone number is (310)670-3465. You can order it online at labelladonna.com. but Lake Austin Spa has it too. It is about $50.00, but it will last so long! It has spf 20, and it really does protect you from the sun. It has milled pure minerals, and it very good for the skin. I do use other make up sometime or none at all..maybe blush, but really this is the best!!! Get the shade closest to your skin. You will not use anything else under the powder except I do recommend the cream cover up...if you have circles and any brown spots. I use the powdered blush, and use a bronzer called Urban Decay from Sephora. Most important you must get your skin in good shape, and then it will glow with this make up and improve!!!! Let me know if you need help!!
Also...one of my secrets. After apply your makeup...labella donna take your moisturizer and put in your hands the a couple of drops rub on your hands and then onto your face! This sets the makeup and gives you a smooth moisturized look!!! This was from my Mother..she used water, but I have found the extra moisture on the top helps the skin to look youthful!!!
Sorry...men, but you can pass this along to your wives!!!! LOL

So happy...#3 son is coming home this weekend!!! Yipppppeee...going to celebrate Miss Jolie's birthday! Who is having more fun...me or Jolie? I bought us dress up clothes yesterday...if they only had my size!!! LOL...that is okay I will get out my wedding dress! Oh, a few years ago I dressed up like the Fairy GOD mother for children in Fort Worth at the Catholic Diocese for abused children. I took them to eat, and Boo at the Zoo!!! Oh, we had great fun! I wanted to take them all home with me!!!!

Okay people I am having some babies!!! LOL that sounds crazy at this time in life...I mean fawns!!! In a few weeks...my four new does will have their babies. I hope I have four sets of twins...triplets would be nice too!!! They are located at another ranch for breeding purposes, but I also will be having some Barneo and Bojangles babies. I will take pictures and put them on my profile...so you can all see my babies! Send me some names okay?!!!! I name them and have birthday parties!!! LOL...just kidding...not that crazy!!!! Well...I know what you are thinking!!!! LOL...

Going around the mountains in June...to Colorado!!! Yippppeeee. Also, for my "B" day...don't tell my boys but planning a trip to the beach as a surprise!!!!

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joy, thanks for the beauty tips but . . . I said by looking at your pictures it appears that you have found the fountain of youth and YOU ARE GORGEOUS! My priority in the a.m. is inhaling caffeine not skincare(and I can live with that), so . . . per Popeye,'I yam what I yam.' Besides, if I am changing habits, I have others that have priority!

I will be responsible for Door Prizes at the reunion. Don't give it another thought. I'm trying to get Strickland to be my co-chair for this committee.

It's Mari-O-n not Mari-A-n.

Joe, To your response about our classmates. I will tell you how "small" our world is. I just found out that one day while sitting in doctor's office, with my grandson, I was sitting next to this lady that would turn out to be someone I knew. We were having a great conversation and I was thinking how much I really enjoyed talking with her. I recognized her daughter, who is extremely talented and beautiful, from a church I was attending with my daughter. I was telling her I had seen Paula Tate, while at that church, who I ran around with in jr. high. She said "Well that's Paula's son," sitting next to her daughter with his wife and new baby.
The nurse called me back and left feeling like I really enjoyed my conversation. Now I find out it was Janice Mangum Colwell. So, thank you Janice for the great conversation. Then, I had a contractor to come and give me a bid for my flooded home. Come to find out, he is a '67 graduate and his wife graduated with US! Their names are David Landsborough and Lillian Yonge. I told him that Lillian really needs to come to the reunion. I spoke with him this morning and he said he is still working on her. So, yes Joe, it is a small world and you never know when GOD places people in your life, from the past, for a reason.

Hey guys, I thought you would like hearing the fight song and looking at a video of the band -- well, not exactly a live video, but a video of the yearbook page with the band on it. Anyway....here it is.

Great memories, Dickie... BHS Exporter Band was the best! That wasn't the particular arrangement that we played, but the melody is the same. I wish someone had a recording of the original. Does anyone know if it was ever recorded? And thanks for posting the picture. I think it is sad that those uniforms aren't in use anymore. I know they are probably outdated, but they were sharp-looking.

05/18/09 12:57 PM #1027

Dickie Tracy

That is not the Exporter band playing. I DO have an original recording of the Exporter band playing it and I played it at the 30 year reunion....and it was my intention to play it here, but when I got it out to listen to it, there was a mysterious 4 second gap in the middle of it. You could have seen the steam coming out of my collar! I think I recorded it onto some other tapes and I will have to make another look around for it. I've moved many times and of course cassettes have gone out of style and all of mine have been stored in boxes for years when I changed over to CD's. Maybe I can find it. If so, I'll post another copy.

The version I had was really good because it was taped in the auditorium and everyone was singing to it.

I wasn't in the Exporter band, but didn't McDonald make records like we did in Junior High? Surely someone has a recording of it. I think Stanley Brock might have one. He's the person that gave me the original reel to reel tape of the Exporter band playing it.

Joe -

I bought a lot on Lake Richland Chambers. It is the third largest lake in TEXAS. There are a bazillion people who live around it. When I was moving in, my neighbor came over to introduce himself. It was Guy Blanchard (He dosn't have access to the world wide interweb). Across the street and down two lots lived Jim James (class of '68) who grew up in the 900 block of Broad in Freeport. I grew up in the 800 block of 4th.

"Of all the gin joints in all the world . . . ."
*************************************************************
Jim James all but grew up in our house, he was my brother's best friend - he was my other brother from a different mother (except not in the actual sense). He and his wife live here in Brazoria and they've been to most all of the c/o of '68 events.

Jim if I were in Gallup I would love to sit down with you and have a drink or two I really do not drink anymore but heh it would be great to hear some of your stories in person so...see you in September eh

Joe:
You're right about how small our world really is. I just noticed that you live around the corner from one of my Beta Sigma Phi sorority sisters (402 Forrest Ave)--Denise and Garry Parsley. They've been redoing their old house for quite a while--I really like their/your neighborhood.

05/18/09 03:05 PM #1032

Joe Ballard

OH CRUD!! Winona I'll have to go by and check out their house. Forrest has some really nice older houses..Forrest and Bellvue both have some nice old trees lining the street..very pretty and we love this part of town our property butts up to the dam on Buffalo Creek and the park is across the creek and in our backyard view..Really small world!

05/18/09 03:29 PM #1033

Marian Sahr (Bullard)

Thanks for the compliment Joe but actually when I was designing my house, I was trying to get the old colonial look. You and everybody are welcomed anytime. I have plenty of room for campers, tents or anything you may want to bring. We have a pond full of catfish so bring your fishing poles! Dee, I know this might sound crazy but I would like to donate a pallet of st. augustine grass as a door prize. If they live out of town, bring the truck and we can load. Dickie, thanks for sharing the picture. I loved the music (even though it wasn't the orginal) which I am sure the Exporter's Band played much better!!!

05/18/09 03:47 PM #1034

Joe Ballard

Well question for the band and sports group was there ever any footage shot of our football, baseball, band, choir etc shot...that would really be neat to see the band at half time again or maybe big red running for a touchdown etc.

My husband and I had met the greatest couple that had started riding with our goldwing group and after knowing them for nearly a year we found out that Cecil & Kathy Scholar & I had all graduated together. They live in Hawkins, TX & we live in Kilgore, TX.

Dee, if you are really getting together some door prizes, I will donate some of my glass jewelry/art work from my new business called "Kiss My Glass". Just let me know.
