Joy Garrett (Chessher)

Hi everyone!!! I have been so depressed about the world as we live..unemployment, taxes, taxes, taxes...social security issues, corrupt government officials....
I called Lifeline to talk over my frustration....and you won't believe it I got the Pakistan hotline, and talked to this Pakistan lady, and I told her it could drive a person to suicide!!!! She got off the phone and put me on speaker phone....this whole group of voices chimmed in and said, "Are you willing to drive a truck?" Can you believe this???!!!!! LOL...............!!!!!

Dickie I want to hear the fight song!!!! I lost nearly alot of keepsakes in the fire of 1990 when our house was struck by ligtning on Lake Granbury! My husband was in Japan...It burned down...all but the Master bedroom. The boys and I ran out of the house as the living room was torched!!! We lost nearly everything except my company business and family pictures...it was like the black pit of hades!!!! It rained on it seven times!!!! This is a huge GOD story....because the last thing I prayed before going to sleep..."Is GOD please protect us!" That was a crazy year... house burned down, turned 40, and totaled my new van!!! The window on my van smashed in right beside my face, and the car repairman told me it was amazing it didn't cave in on me...because he had never seen a window broken like this that stayed in one piece....not a scratch on my or my son Chuck!!!! My husband was scared to death...living with me has not been easy!!!! LOL!!!!!

Sweet dreams everyone!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, when the lightning and the BOOM is at the same time you have been struck!!!!

I called my husband one day after I turned 40+ and told him we were pregnant....complete silence...gasping for air...omg he screamed...how did this happen........"Happy April Fools Day!" Boy was he shocked and relieved all at the same time!!!! LOL LOL LOL!!!!

Question: Okay ladies...the answer to HOW DO WE AVOID WRINKLES, Crows feet, drooping faces, double chins, rolls on the neck?!!!! I will tell you at the reunion don't want to get in trouble and be banned from this forum!!!! Just think about it... hint...some of didn't use these in college!!! Who can guess the answer?!!!!! Who ever guesses first gets a door prize from JOY at the reunion!!!! Wahoo.....

Joy, is that a true story about the Pakistan hotline...or were you putting us on? :)))) as Julie Davidson would write.

It won't do me any good to find out about wrinkle prevention AT the reunion. Go ahead and tell us...write it tonight and then delete it tomorrow.

Lynn, I'd like to share some of the things I remember about you, from as far back as jr high. You had the most beautiful complexion. And your clothes...I particularly loved a sweater that had ties at the neck w/ big pom pom balls on the ends. You had pretty wool skirts and wool slacks (I had the skirts but no wool slacks...just as well...I would have probably ruined them w/ my blue mascara). You had a pretty bedroom w/ a huge closet to house all your clothes. Your parents were such nice people and your mom always seemed to be baking the most delicious cookies. I went w/ your family to your cute A-framed vacation home on Lake Jacksonville on Feb 18 and 19, 1966. I cheated on that....found it on an old calendar in my scrapbook. Your dog went w/ us...(a dachshund?). We rowed in a rowboat while you sang and played your guitar. You were really good, even back then, and I am not surprised that you are still doing it. We had PE together and when we had tumbling, I was in your group. (Who was the 3rd person?) We had to give some kind of performance and I flopped on the last walkover. You were really good and could do them effortlessly. You could also do the splits, although you pulled something and that was the end of that for the performance. We did some other things together...I think we sang together in something, although I don't know why you would have allowed it...I was so not good. You were one of the sweetest people and never made anyone feel inferior about anything. I know when you were telling me about your Weejuns, you didn't say much more than they couldn't be found in Freeport. :) In high school, I think you dated someone who was a golfer. There were quite a few kids in our class who went to your dad's church--Tony Barnard, Sam Sutherland, Nancy Bryan, Kay Evans, Skipper Rush and I think, Danny Penvose. Who else? Margaret Willis? We used to sit in the balcony and often whispered and wrote notes. Your dad never got on to us for anything...he was SOOO easy going. Your personality seemed a lot like his. I'm sure your family was loved by many...I wasn't the only one.

I called Kathy Barnes last week to make sure she knew about the reunion and the website. She is doing well. She and husband of 40(?) yrs, John Smith, live in Jones Creek. They have children and grandchildren. After having a good job at Dow for many years, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream of nursing. Went to nursing school and has been doing that ever since.

Janice, didn't Cindy Peace have a child at Brazosport Christian?

05/18/09 10:34 PM #1043

Janice Mangum (Colwell)

Yes, she did. Amanda was in my daughter Kristin's class. I saw both Amanda and Cindy in Walmart several months ago and spoke with them. But for the life of me, I cannot remember Cindy's last name. If I do (it will probably come to me about 2 in the morning), I will give her a call(the next morning....if I remember :) ) and encourage her to sign up on the website.

Marian...do you know my nephew Brian Garrett...Paula Tate Garrett and Dennis Garrett (my brother) son? Well...I could go on forever talking about him! He is a wonderful young man...husband, friend, Daddy!!! To know him is to love him!!!! I love my nieces and nephews...amazing people!!!!

Okay...okay...don't be mad at me... I have to apologize to Carrol and Kathy...remember I am very mischievious and persuasive...kind of crazy...love to play jokes..and love to laugh.....!!!!!(look what I did to my poor husband telling him at 40+ I was pregnant!!!!!) But, I can say this Carol I do get depressed about GOD'S creation....some...not all men are trying to destroy it!!!! GOD'S word will be fulfilled! Carrol...do you know what I like so much about you, and as I remember you in high school.... You are so strong, so honest...and so loyal to the people you love! Great qualities!!!! It isn't the outward appearance that makes people beautiful to me....so I don't care what people look like...I just want to pass on what I have learned!!!! Kathy....my "joke" is now a contest...I cannot tell! I am giving a door prize... Another hint...Some of us discarded these in college...it was the time...1970's!!!!
Yippppppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeee everybody have a great day!!!!!
I am going to this waterfall in Austin with Jolie...It is on Mount something...memory failing.......

I have all of these horns at the ranch...would make a cool lamp We found them in the high fence...the bucks shed them every year!!! Some are huge.. I don't know...not everyone would want a buckaroo lamp?!!!!! Let me know I want to give a door prize!

Kathy Harkreader (Jones)

Janice, Cindy's last name is Groves. (I edited my previous answer...in case anyone thinks they are losing their marbles).

Joy, it's just as well. Being concerned about what you were going to say, I was going to get on here and tell you not to tell it anyway. Didn't want you to get in trouble. :)

Would someone donate a '55, '56 or '57 T-bird for a door prize? :) Hey, you can't blame me for asking.

So...Larry Cornelius surfaces...it's about time. His daughter Alyson and my son were classmates and good friends at B'port Christian.

Also, Pat Bass! My son worked in the IT dept at a Christian university a few years ago and had a Dr. Bass as his boss, who told him he had relatives from the B'port area. Of course, I thought of Ogden and Sam Bass, but the person I kept reminding my son to ask him about was my old friend Pat...to see if they were related. As many times as I brought it up, he never remembered and now has moved on. Anyway, I hope Pat and Larry will contribute here on the forum.

Joy -

My son wants to know what the name of your ranch is. He also wants to know the name of your big buck that is featured on the interweb - the one that died a few years ago.

My son is a big bow hunter. He dosn't hunt bows. He hunts with bows. He likes to see how close he can get to the deer, or visa versa. He has more pictures of deer than he has deer meet. Last year, all he had to show for a full year of hunting was a lot of pictures of deer and one hog that, we figured, cost him about $900 a lb.

05/19/09 10:24 AM #1052

Dee Allen

That's "meat", not "meet".

05/19/09 10:41 AM #1053

Kathy Harkreader (Jones)

Yikes, Janice, I checked Cindy Peace's profile and corrected my answer to "Groves".
Where is Donna Thompson? I liked her.

05/19/09 11:12 AM #1054

Margaret Dubois (Ammons)

Donna lives somewhere in the Dallas area. I go to church with Rodger Thompson-if I see him I'll ask him how to get in touch with her.

05/19/09 11:13 AM #1055

Jd Barnett:

Dee, if your son gets close enough to the deer, it could well be a deer "meet" without resulting in deer meat...

Jd Barnett:

Hi, Joy! (just catching up on my reading) What was our fifth grade teacher's name?

Thank you, Margaret!

This is what happens when you have soldiers
with some free time on their hands. Soldiers
with audio-video equipment and soldiers with a great
sense of humor.

You gotta' LOVE our young servicemen working in those conditions
and still have this GREAT sense of humor!

Oh My Gosh Dee....I was watching your video all teary eyed and then the end can and oh.........I'm glad you posted it because for days I have been walking around mooping about my flooded house but then I decided to rethink it. I am very blessed to have a roof, air conditioning and a soft bed. So, thanks.

Joy, I met you nephew for the first time at the Dr.'s office and he reminded me of the "Michael Poehl" type....gorgeous on the outside but much more on the inside. Their baby was adorable too.

Do you have a website or shop set up for your jewelry?

05/19/09 07:30 PM #1061

Joy Garrett (Chessher)

Carrol...oh no...have always thought you were gorgeous!!! There are some people that never needed much makeup, and still look great...you are one of them! I am just saying do what you want, and I am happy if you are happy!!! Actually, the whole facial thing started when I was a kid...found that it helps people to feel so much better about themselves...renewal. We are going to use this in our round table ministry to help people feel better about themselves....one ex drug addict was so happy to see how good she looked! It did renew her and build her self confidence! I wonder did you ever know how much I like and respect you Carrol?! You are the kind of person I want on my team...because you are a great woman...beautiful inside and out!!!! Hugs!!!!

JOY, I WAS KIDDING!!!! (but apparently not very well) You don't have a mean bone in your body and I know it. So sorry. Carrol

Dee Allen...Janie and I took that picture a few months ago when she and some friends visited the ranch. The name of the ranch is the RLC "Barneo Ranch, in memory of my husband Randall Lynn Chessher...nicknamed Barneo by his high school buddies...he would swing from trees, and they called him the "Wild Man of Barneo"!!! The picture is Barneo , and he is still alive! He is so beautiful and will be 8 1/2 this year. Barneo and Bojangles are from the Leo Hicks Baker buck genetics! Leo Hicks is a well know breeder of the "big boys"!!! Bojangles went to deer heaven because Barneo attacked him when fighting over the does, and I sold him at the ranch. Bojangles was a non typical deer, and actually we got him by mistake from a breeder. The one we were supposed to get broke his neck when loading him in the trailer. So the owner gave us one of their breeders...Bojangles. Bojangles had 23 points year before last, and when he passed away 17. He was starting to show his age...but Barneo has not. Barneo was a 13 point last year, and being a typical this will not change. He is very beautiful and huge...scored 170+ this year. Actually, they were considered huge a few years ago, but the genetics has really improved. Ask your son to go google Atlas...omg!!! He is huge, and will be fully matured at age 6. Also...they are selling him for $150,000!!!!! He and 2 other bucks will be my breeders. I am really starting over because I love the whole breeding process. I am buying 2 straws of Atlas in a few months and he will breed two does, and another crazy big buck will breed the other two. One of them is Atlas's full sister! Atlas scores a 254 at 4 years, and one of the bucks scores 187 at 2 years...he still has 4 more years to mature! The other buck I am breeding the does with is also just as impressive! The does I bought are located at another ranch, and will have their babies in a few weeks!!! I am very excited!!! Also, at the ranch I will have Barneo and Bojangles offspring in 2 or 3 weeks. My goal is to raise the biggest bucks in Texas!!!! LOL...you know us Texans we like the biggest!!!! We feed them all you can eat buffet of the best Purina protein feed! Do you still want me to bring some deer meat! Hey you can give your son my email, and I will send him some pictures! i will talk about deer to anyone!!! LOL Tell him to be careful during the rut...Barneo stomped at me, and let me know it was time to leave!!! You know one day I was telling him how beautiful he was, and he wagged his tail at me!!! email joycti22@yahoo.com
