You know what's pretty scary?
My hair looks pretty much the same as it did in my senior pic haha!
After graduating, I attended Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle) for 1 year as a theatre major, and then went to Highline Comm. College for 2 years where it was a case of musical majors. I took a break from college to work for a while and in 1995 met my future husband (on AOL of all places!)
We met in person 6 months later and lived in his home state of Ohio for 2 years before moving back to Seattle in 1998. We were married in Sept. 1999 at Seattle University, which I had just started attending. LeEllen Nemours was my maid of honor!
My former husband was a defense contractor for the Air Force, so we lived in OH, VA and Germany. We LOVED Germany. We separated in 2005 and I moved back to Seattle, but we remained very close friends until his unexpected death in November, 2017.
Since moving back to Seattle, I went back to Seattle University to complete my B.A. in Criminal Justice and Psychology, since I couldn't decide whether I wanted to go into law or counseling. I also took the paralegal course at Highline College.
I worked as a paralegal for a couple of weeks in 2017, decided I hated it and I knew that I wouldn't be happy doing that for the long term because at the end of the day I didn't feel that I was helping anyone.
I decided to switch over to counseling, and in August, 2017 I started a new career as a treatment counselor/CDP-T (chemical dependency professional trainee) at Sea Mar Community Health Centers. I started off at the south Seattle inpatient facility for adolescent boys, but then transferred to the inpatient adult facility in Tacoma, where I've been ever since. I love my job, the clients and my coworkers! I am currently taking CDP classes at Bellevue College so I can take my state CDP certification test, and then I'll probably go for my Master's degree in Psychology.
It's wonderful to finally find a career that I love!
