Ride My See Saw - Moody Blues {Stereo} 1968

PeeWee always said, “You’ll have a good trip when you listen to the Moody Blues!

Ride, ride my see-saw,
Take this place
On this trip
Just for me.

Ride, take a free ride,
Take my place
Have my seat
It's for free.

I worked like a slave for years,
Sweat so hard just to end my fears.
Not to end my life a poor man,
But by now, I know I should have run.

Run, run my last race,
Take my place
Have this number
Of mine.

Run, run like a fire,
Don't you run in
In the lanes
Run for time.

Left school with a first class pass,
Started work but as second class.
School taught one and one is two.
But right now, that answer just ain't true.

Ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah ah
Ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah, ah ah ah ah ah

My world is spinning around,
Everything is lost that I found.
People run, come ride with me,
Let's find another place that's free.

Ride, ride my see-saw,
Take this place
On this trip
Just for me.

Ride, take a free ride,
Take my place
Have my seat
It's for free.

Ride, my see-saw.
Ride, ride, ride, my see-saw.
Ride, my see-saw...

Hey Phil loved your post on the Moodys! Brought back great memories. I have seen them 3 times in concert. Ride My See Saw is always their last or encore song. The crowd goes nuts when they do it. Sad that Justin Hayward and John Lodge are the only ones still alive. Coincidentally Lodge is appearing in Milwaukee on 7/19 and still rockin! Keep stirring up the great memories!

I will never forget what it was like going into Chicago in the late 68, 69, and 70. The optimism and positive vibrations in the air were so strong. There was no doubt to many that the world was going to change for the better.

So what happened? Well, let’s just say “the negative forces” do not want to see peace and happiness, which are indeed spiritual qualities become the norm. That is why you see so much “divide and conquer” tactics in our society.

The positive forces will eventually win this battle, keep the faith!

Thanks Sue, hope you and Don are having a nice summer. I’m getting ready to take my 1968 Honda CL-90 out for a ride. My indoor-outdoor thermometer says it’s a 122 out. Well, don’t know how accurate that is but it’s a littler warm out. I handle heat well, one needs to keep hydrated and don’t stay out long. Don’t like being inside all day.Take care.

This is the way

I always dreamed it would be
The way that it is, oh oh
When you are holding me
I never had a love of my own
Maybe that's why when we're all alone

I can hear music
I can hear music
The sound of the city baby seems to disappear
I can hear music
Sweet sweet music
Whenever you touch me baby
Whenever you're near

Loving you
It keeps me satisfied
And I can't explain, oh no
The way I'm feeling inside
You look at me we kiss and then
I close my eyes and here it comes again

I can hear music
I can hear music
The sound of the city baby seems to disappear
I can hear music
Sweet sweet music
Whenever you touch me baby
Whenever you're near

I hear the music all the time, yeah
I hear the music, hold me tight now baby
I hear the music all the time
I hear the music
I hear the music (baby)

I can hear music
I can hear music
The sound of the city baby seems to disappear
I can hear music

Love was changing the minds of pretenders

While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing
As we danced in the night
Remember how the stars stole the night away

Ba de ya, say do you remember
Ba de ya, dancing in September
Ba de ya, never was a cloudy day

Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya de ya

Carpenters - Rainy Days And Mondays

The Carpenters (officially known as Carpenters) were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen (1950–1983) and Richard Carpenter (born 1946). They produced a distinctive soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's harmonizing, arranging, and composition skills. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded 10 albums along with many singles and several television specials.

Karen Anne Carpenter (March 2, 1950 – February 4, 1983) was an American singer and drummer who formed half of the highly successful duo the Carpenters with her older brother Richard, With a distinctive three-octave contralto range, she was praised by her peers for her vocal skills,

Initially, Karen was the band's full-time drummer, but she gradually took the role of frontwoman as her drumming was reduced to a handful of live showcases or tracks on albums. From then on, she found her appearance under constant scrutiny and developed anorexia nervosa, an eating disorder, as a way to cope with the massive pressure to look slim on stage. Carpenter struggled for years with her disorder. She died at the age of 32 of heart failure due to complications from anorexia, which was little-known outside celebrity circles at the time.

Karen’s singing has attracted critical praise and influenced several significant musicians and singers,. Paul McCartney has said that she had "the best female voice in the world: melodic, tuneful and distinctive". She has been called "one of the greatest voices of our lifetime" by Elton John. In the BBC documentary Only Yesterday: The Carpenters Story, her friend Nicky Chinn said that John Lennon walked up to her at a Los Angeles restaurant and told her "I want to tell you, love, that you've got a fabulous voice." Her drumming has been praised by fellow musicians Hal BlaineCubby O'Brien and Buddy Rich, and by Modern Drummer magazine. In 1975, she was voted the best rock drummer in a poll of Playboy readers, beating Led Zeppelin's John Bonham.

The Glory Days of British Motorbikes - BBC Cafe Racers Part 1

café racer is a genre of sport motorcycles that originated among British motorcycle enthusiasts of the early 1960s in London. Café racers were standard production bikes that were modified by their owners and optimized for speed and handling for quick rides over short distances.

Café racers were particularly associated with the urban Rocker or "Ton-Up Boys" youth subculture, where the bikes were used for short, quick rides between popular cafés, such as London's Ace Café on the North Circular ring road, and Watford's Busy Bee café. In post-war Britain, car ownership was still uncommon, but as rationing and austerity diminished, by the late 1950s young men could for the first time afford a motorcycle.

"Rockers" were a young and rebellious rock and roll subculture who wanted to escape the crushing convention of dreary 1950s UK culture. Owning a fast, personalised, and distinctive café racer gave them status and allowed them to ride between transport cafés in and around British towns and cities. Biker lore has it that one goal was to reach "the ton", (100 miles per hour (160 km/h)), along a route where the rider would leave from a café, race to a predetermined point, and return to the café.

President John F. Kennedy's "Peace Speech"

Khrushchev was so impressed with this speech, he allowed it to be printed in it’s entirety, uncensored, in the Soviet Union’s official state newspaper “Pravda”.

"For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal."
