Every fall I miss “Indian Summer”, I always enjoyed seeing the leaves change color. It doesn’t last very long, but always enjoyed when it did. The Fox River valley was always colorful. Remember many a walk to Algonquin Junior High across the bridge and the river valley would be a bright shade of colors. Such is the “cycle” of life.

Petticoat Junction CANNONBALL CHRISTMAS, (first aired 12-24-63)

Petticoat Junction is an American television sitcom that originally aired on CBS from September 1963 to April 1970. The series takes place at the Shady Rest Hotel, which is run by Kate Bradley; her three daughters Billie Jo, Bobbie Jo, and Betty Jo; and her uncle Joe Carson. The series is one of three interrelated shows about rural characters produced by Paul HenningPetticoat Junction was created upon the success of Henning's previous rural/urban-themed sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies (1962–1971). The success of Petticoat Junction led to a spin-offGreen Acres (1965–1971).

Ruth Henning told him stories of her childhood adventures at the Burris Hotel, which was owned by her grandparents in Eldon, Missouri. Once called the Rock Island Hotel, the Burris was located next to the now-derelict Rock Island Line railroad tracks. Ruth Henning's mother, Alice (Burris) Barth, also told her many stories about the hotel and about growing up in the small town of Eldon. The stories of Ruth and her mother, Alice, became the basis of the show.

Linda Kaye Henning said that her father "wrote the series for Bea Benaderet." Paul Henning thought the show would make an ideal starring vehicle for the veteran character actress.

The youngest Bradly girl, “Betty Jo”, was Paul Henning’s daughter; Linda Kaye Henning.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linda_Kaye_Henning

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Thanks Randy. Nice to hear from you. Hope you had a chance to view them before the link expired. I can post a new link in the future if any one wishes to download some of them. For some reason, the cloud will only let the link remain active for approximately 30 days. I posted the link twice. It is different each time you post it, so be sure to tap on the most recent link if it is posted again. It was my pleasure to have the ability to take them. It was so wonderful to see people I hadn't seen since graduating. Hope you are doing well and that you get some nice weather up in IL soon. What a crazy winter the entire country has had huh??
Best Wishes ,

Sue

The Septuagenarian Club

My friends Eric and Paula had a birthday party for me today at Macayo’s. My actual birthday is Sunday the 23rd and my neighbor is having a party for me then. Will have another birthday celebration on Weds compliments of Church members. What a racket!

This picture is of Paula’s daughters, myself and their kids. I’ve gone over to their house for Christmas the last 20 years. The girls were very young then and now they have their own families. Such is the “cycle” of life.

Hey Craig! It's a little drive from DeKalb,  but I used to get up in the middle of the night to catch infants so I could get up early to catch breakfast.  Text me and let me know when and where the next '71 breakfast is happening.  815-762-2229 Thanks!   Joe Baumgart

Cheryl,  I am so sorry to hear about James death.  In high school, he was truly someone you would never forget. He made Guys and Dolls a wonderful memory of his laughter and talent.  May you be surrounded by the love you shared and the family you created together.

Oh Cheryl, so sad to hear. Being with Jim for class or any high school event was always going to be a good time.  The best sense of humor: He could find something funny to say about virtually any situation or predicament we could find ourselves in.  His memory is indeed a blessing to us all.

Yes Jeanette, Guys and Dolls  was Great.  Jim played "Big Julie" made all the more Comic by Jim's stature.  He rolled dice that had no spots on them; but it was OK, because he memorzied which side had what spots.

"When you see a Guy reach for stars in the sky, you can bet that he's doing it for some Doll!"

And for Jim, what was Cherry.  God Bless you All!
