Thank you, Sonja!  Yes, these years go by, don't they.  We really are official senior citizens.  I do believe this retirement is what keeps us young if not in body but in spirit.  Its delightful to wake up for the day and to know it is our own to do as we please, be where we wish to be, and be with those we wish.  May your b-day in 11 days be everything you wish.

Love, Barb

Thanks Darlene for informing Sandy's classmates of her passing.  So grateful she made it back to our mini-reunion last summer in Carrington.  She will live on in our hearts but she will be flying with the angels.  Rest in Peace dear Sandy.

When I arrived in Carrington from the country school as a freshman, I didn't know hardly anybody. My grandmother[whom I stayed with some of the time] had a close friend who was Sandy's mother and my grandmother thought Sandy and I should get to know one another. I am glad for the friendship I found in Sandy as it helped me get through the first week in CHS. My sympathy to her family.

I agree with Ivy summer months are bad as always go to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Grand convention

in July and next year it's in Grand Rapids, Michigan while this year it's in Reno. Also try to take trip into

Montana which is usually June and this year friends and I are going down Oregon coast in August and taking

her daughter who will be 12 and a friend of hers. There will be 5 of us plus my dog Tootsie. So maybe September when not so hot.  Like Ivy said everyone who plans to go let us know. Hi to everyone. Jill

Greetings Fellow Classmates,

Agreed, we need to start planning this 55th reunion.  Lord willing, September 2017 works for us.  Carrington location is okay but we should not expect those that live there to do all the planning, its asking alot of them.  So for that reason I'm open to any suggestion for an alternative location too.  Would be fun to find a resort type location in ND or MN or even SD.  Just an idea that popped into my head.  I think we could use this web site to register/sign up to let people know if we plan on attending.  Maybe we could come up with some ideas if we put our heads to work.  So lets give some time to let the ideas to flow from everyone.  Looking forward to hearing from all.  Barb

I agree with Barb ! It doesn't have to be Carrington ! Classmates are Classmates where ever we are. We'll still enjoy the same activities whether it's Carrington, Medora, The Black Hills or where ever. No matter where we go it will require some coordination to research / locate potential sites, and then time to set things up, make the necessary arrangements and coordinate the event activities, including notification of all Class mates and former Classmates.

Unfortunately the Web Site can't accomplish all of that and I believe that everyone needs to be invited, whether they're on the Web Site or not. The Message Forum can be a perfect tool to start the process.

First is time frame, there needs to be a concensus of dates for consideration.

1. Will it be late May / early June ? ( Graduactions - HS & College & Weddings).

2. Should we stick to dates that have proven to be acceptable to most classmates ? (Mid-June - Mid-July)

3. Are there alternate dates, such as September that are more acceptable  ? (Rates in some toutist areas, Medora, Black Hills, etc. could be lower)

Provide your feedback, now's your chance to speak up, it doesn't and won't make you the Reunion Chair or make you do anything, it just let's the Class know your thoughts.

Next area for consideration is location:

1. Does the Class of '62 want Reunion # 55  to be in Carrington again, as all but the "mini-reunions" have been in the past ?  (This is a fiscal savings for some as they can sleep in their own beds and have a known meal location for most meals. For many of us, that don't live in the Carrington area, and have no family in the area, Carrington, Medoa, Black Hills, Fargo, (HAWAII) - it doesn't matter we're going to have travel, lodging and meal expenses where ever we go.)

2. What about other options ?  Is it somewhere carved in stone that we classmates that now live all over this great country need to be in Carrington to reconnect and catch-up ? I don't think so. On the plus side, some may enjoy a journey back to the past, and some may use the time to reconnect with family and friends in the area other than Classmates. The point is someone needs to know so what you'd like so something can be planned. - OK ?

Let's consider the following:

1.  Carrington

2. Medora (it was great for  mini reunion)

3. The Black Hills

4. Fargo (why not, many of our Classmates attended College in the area)

5. Denver (there are some know classmates in this area that could "ASSIST" with the planning and coordination. on the negative - probably a bit more expensive than Carrington, but the plus side, many Classmates would have a "unique travel experience">

6. Hawaii - well why not, ? Unfortunately it could be a bit on the pricey side and take a little more time away than many would care to do, thus defeats the purpose of the Reunion, which is to get together and catch up with people that we experienced the earlier years of our journey with, so scenery and great weather aren't necessarily the key factors.

I'm suggesting everyone join in and voice ther opinions / thoughts, it doesn't cost a penny to speak up regarding dates and possible locations. As the planning takes place, lack of comments will be interpreted to imply that you're willing to go along with the decisions made by those that respond. (Fair enough) I even suggest if you see no reason for a reunion, speak up, share those thoughts with us too, we're all "big kids" now, your words won't "crush" your classmates !

To move this along, and truly if we're going to do something in 2016 we need to get the plan started I'll arbitrarily set a time limit, we want your coments, thoughts, remarks, whatever by June 1st, that's June 1st  2016, gives you 3 plus weeks to think and then type your thoughts. If you have comments or questions and you'd prefer not posting to the Message Forum, call me at 303-773-8403 or email at russkraus@q.com.

I look forward to seeing something from most of you, can we get a 65 % response rate ? Have a great weekend, and Happy Mothers Day !

Russ

It doesn't matter to me where we have the reunion.  Tom and I will go with whatever is  decided on.

I am looking forward to the 55th!  June and July get quite scheduled for us, so I would prefer a September date.  I don't get back to Carrington except for the reunions, but any ND location is easily doable.  With enough notice,  I would try to go to any location I can fly to!

Thanks Darlene for letting us know of Rays passing.  I remember Ray's dry sense of humor and sly smile as he teased me about one thing or another in our high school days.  Our thoughts go to his family.

Classmates, we have lost so many of our friends.  It is time we get serious about getting togather in 2017.  Please make your wishes known to the rest so we may plan something to celebrate 55 years.

Barb
