I received a BS in elementary ed. from MTSU. I taught school for 30 years (grades K-3) I have taught in 8 public schools and one Christain school. I married David Gibbs in 1976, and we have lived in Chattanooga/Hixson for the duration of our wonderful marriage of 33 years. We are members of Hixson First Baptist Church. We have two beautiful daughters. Rebecca (now almost 30) married Scott Foster, and they have two children: Jenna-4 and Logan-2. They live in Murfreesboro, Tn. and Rebecca is an elementary teacher. (like her mom :) Our younger daughter, Jennifer (25) married Jonathan Thomas 2 years ago. They both graduated from UTK and are finishing their doctorate degrees in physical therapy- graduating May 29, 2009. They will be working for Star Physical Therapy in Nashville, Tn.
Dave worked for TVA (29 yrs.) and is now retired from TVA and contracting for Westinghouse. Since his contracting job requires some traveling, I am no longer teaching full time. I am a part time reading interventionist with Hamilton County, and love teaching just 3 days a week. This frees me up for traveling with Dave, taking care of my mom (84), and spending time with family.
Our house is the "homestead" for all family gatherings, so I stay busy planning holiday/birthday/ family get togethers all throughout the year. Being with our family is my favorite thing to do. I loved watching our girls grow up, planning two beautiful weddings, and now I am loving being a "Nana" to Jenna and Logan. I love to travel, although most trips are not very far from home. However, Dave and I are planning a trip to Hawaii in May for our 33rd anniversary.
Dave and I were not able to attend our 30th class reunion, because he had back surgery that summer. So I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Oct.
My husband, Dave, and I knew each other in high school. We would speak when we passed each other in the hall. We had mutual friends, but never got together. We didn't date in high school, and I didn't even know he liked me then. I wished we had dated in high school. I would have loved having a tall date for those high school dances. (and I would have taught him how to dance!)
