Although I knew his brother, Jock, (Class of '63) better during high school, I did enjoy building a friendship with James in 1973,1974 when we both lived on Signal Mountain.
A great guy. Our moped gang would meet in his front yard every morning and ride en masse to Signal Mountain Junior High. Those were the days. After graduation from City High he got a beautiful black and gold Pontiac Firebird. I stopped by one day on my Honda while he was shining it up, and then left Chattanooga and never saw him again.
Really, what to say. An amazing human being and a great artist. Ready for a good time. We visited Jim in Wiaro 2 weeks before his death for three wonderful days. He found a great community in NZ. We returned to help Jock through the funeral and learned so much about Jim from his Mauri and art world friends. He will be missed.
