Here's anoher way to look at the "Shit Storm."

This is the story about a small chick that got stranded outside in the middle of a snowstorm. The chick was close to death when I friendly dog picked it up and stuck it in a fresh warm pile of horse manure.

The warmth was so comfortable that the chick began chirping happily. Just then a fox happened by, was attracted by the chirping, and ate the chick.

The moral of this story is: It's not always your enemies that put you in the sh*t; and it's not always your friends that get you out of it; but when you're up to your neck in it, keep your mouth shut!!!

MILITARY THOUGHTS AND GUIDANCE FOR TODAY

Jerry,  The posting of quotes and photos is great.  Patton is always a favorate with me, Mr. Grenade well worth keeping in mind in situations every day... all are great bits of wisdom.  However, the copilot sign at the end could easily become a favorate among wives so I advise not sharing that frame as it has a Mr. Grenade potential.

Thanks for the post, Jerry...   There is a lot of wisdom in those pages!

Bill,  Was just going thru these messages again.  Infantry is the "Queen" of battle, Artillery is the "KING" of battle because they put the balls where the "Queen" wants them.

"Balls" said the Queen, "I'd be King if I had two!"

Vince,   Best thing to do is to put our big 50th reunion in 2016 on the calender right now.  That way the fair warning is officially on the table.  Looking forward to meeting with you.

  Our military branches are in the worst shape since Jimmy Carter's time.  I tell students in my gov't classes that Carter was the worst president of the 20 century, but he's been eclipsed already in the 21st by Obama.  Semper Fi,  Bill

Dear Bill,

I taught History and Government for seven years and admittedly am over educated for my abilities. However, I could not agree with you more. Our system is not broken, but the people we have continued to elect are the worst I have ever seen in my lifetime and I will raise you one more; they are the worst I have ever studied. Ever since I sold most of my business I have spent most of my non-business time working to change the men and woman who are supposed to represent us. I sense we are beginning to make some progress albeit slow and frustrating. We are a great and generous people and I too still carry the love of Country that began to germinate through the values and people we all met during our time at PMC.

G-D Bless you all,

Zoomer

Right on Bill & Zoomer.

Unfortunately, the uneducated voting masses don't care about anything but continuing  "their free stuff". Hard to change that mentality when you can go to the supermarket and buy lobster tails with your SNAP card !!

We the People need a total transformation in Washington to get the Country back to the basics established by our Founding Fathers, and start once again marching in a unified manner to the letter of the Constitution.

Obama is a disgrace, a great danger to our Country, the carrers of many excellent Military men and women, and our Allies. He has to go before it's too late for the USA and Isreal. Otherwise, the uneducated masses may be heating those lobster tails over the remnants of nuclear fallout !!

Time to ruck up.

Zoomer and Gerry,

If you have the opportunity, contact Hank (The Owl) Olkowski, ask him to send you the E-mail "Deer Crossing"  After you view the E-mail, please tell me why the Youth of America have not progress more than 3rd Grade.  Common Sence among the voting public is at about 15 to 19%.  Yes the entire Political Society in Washington D.C., made up of Our House of Rep and Senators, are in Office for THEMSELVES, not to REPRESENT the people  who have put them in Office.  We not only need a clean up, but we need TERM LIMITS, No More special Retirement Programs, No More automatic Salary Increases, No More Free Medical, they should go on Medicare and Social Security as all Americans do, and they should get thier own 401K's, and if they TANK like many of ours did Oh well.   Serving Our NATION IS A PRIVILEGE!  iT'S NOT A WAY TO RICHES.  We also need to get rid of the career politician.  Reduce the size of the Government and raise the size of our Military.  Take Care of our Vet's.  Any one on any type of Governmental Program should be required to pass random drug testing. You pull a check you have to pass the test.  No Pass No Check For At Least 6 Months.  Three Failures in a Two year period you Loose the illigibility to ever again be in the Program.  Maybe, this would slow down the out pouring of Federal Monies and the start of people going back to work.  It would be a great start.  Be well, looking forward to seeing you both soon, Ed Farrell.

Ah, the sad truth is that democracy doesn't work for extremely large groups of people... like the 350 million in the United States. When our country was founded, there were small groups of people who all knew each other and were relatively well educated. Now we live in a country where each person has perhaps 100 "friends" and knows absolutely nothing about how politics or society or economics work.

The obvious fact is that at least 50% of our population is below "everything" — income, education, intelligence, political savvy, knowledge of world politics and the economy. We were raised and trained in a culture of military service. We know at least what the military means to the survival of our country. MOST Americans don't understand that. Worse than the hippies of our school years, today's young people and politicians want peace at any cost. Unfortunately that "any cost" is the survival of our society, our country, and our way of life.

I do not know that answer!!! There are too many buttons that must be pushed to make our enormous problems go away. There is no way to fix the economy unless everything else changes also. I'm not sure I blame Obama alone. He is just trying to maintain the status quo and keep us afloat. Congress is reacting to bad situations, not planning for the future. "It's pretty hard to remember when you're up to your ass in alligators that your original objective was to drain the swamp."

I think our current problems date all the way back to John F. Kennedy. For my opinion, he was the worst possible President in the history of the United States. While Eisenhower (a military expert) kept us out of the war in Viet Nam for 8 years, And France learned the hard way that any war in South East Asia was unwinable, Kennedy in his infinite stupidity plunged us into the only war in history that the United States has lost. He was working under the theory that war is good for the economay. We make guns, tanks, ships, and aircraft the support our industrial complex with billions of dollars. Unfortunately those morons don't understand that we are paying those billions of dollars with money we don't have.... we are eating our children!!!

Like I say, I don't know the answer, but something must change by our hands, or history and fate will make it happen TO US!!!

10/13/15 04:16 PM #66

Gerald F. Jr. Johnson

Guys;

Here's the deal from my perspective.

The Military Industrial Complex is like any other business. The Technology of making War advances continuously, almost exponentially, and we need an arena in which to "check it out" and confirm functionality and applicability.

Vietnam is a perfect example. The Military had just transitioned from Air Born to Air Mobile, and we needed an areana in which to check out the Helicopter in a hot combat zone. Etc., Etc. The stuff I saw and participated in over there is worth at least one Big Book.

So the Generals in the Head Shed at the Pentagon made a deal with LBJ. "We will give you the Presidency, if you will give us a War". The Deal was made, and the rest is History - and conspiracy theory - and we were the Lambs.

There will be more arenas - only because there has to be.

Tell us what you really think Shelly.  You are absolutely right, there are so many problems, and reasons for those problems, that it's hard to know what to start on first.  The people we have been electing promise much to get elected, but deliver little or nothing once they are elected.  That goes for federal, state and local.  But we are the people who elect them.  Change has to start with each individual making informed decisions and then holding elected officials accountable, each of us.  There's the rub, informed individuals.  My heads going to explode

Robert J. Grosch

Guys, Guys,the fundemental question in my mind is...Who will fight for this country in the future? ...Think about it. A Special Forces Sgt. gets fired for helping a rape victim overseas. That's a Senior Military Cmdrs decision. What about the Army Article 32 investigation of Berghdahl, rumor has it that they are recommending no jail time,for a deserter. Thats a UCMJ function. The Military Chain of Command again. Before we worry about the size of our Armed Forces let's get senior commanders that care for their troops. Obama has got Military leaders buying into his Liberal agenda. Young men see this and say.....It's not worth it.

10/14/15 09:15 AM #69

Gerald F. Jr. Johnson

Bobby;

It's buy in or get relieved from duty and your career in the Military. The Progressives will try and flatten anyone that interfears with their agenda.

Bergdahl's desertion and Obama's prisoner swap (as well as the Rose Garden love fest with Bergdahl's muslim parents) sets Obama up to be the feckless "leader" that he is if Bergdahl is found guilty. So, the Progressive machine threatens the residing Colonel with his career, and he caves.

These people are ruthless in pursuit of accomplishing their mission, which unfortunately is the ultimate destruction of our Country as founded. It's all about their Power and Control over We the People. This has to be stopped, and it appears that the 2016 Election will be our final opportunity. If we are successful, the Military can then be rebuilt to again be the World leader, and Duty, Honor, Country will once again be the watchword.

If we aren't succesful, God help us all.

Jerry,

You've been ranting and raving about changing our nation and ending this conspiracy to destroy us. Exactly HOW do you think we should start? One suggestion will be sufficient to satisfy my curiosity.

Please remember that 1/2 of the voting population is below average intelligence. How do you plan to reach them?

More than 50% of that population has absolutely no idea of any of the deep holes the United States (through its leaders — or lack of leadership) has dug itself into. How do you plan to educate them?

We owe many trillions of dollars in national debt, a lot of it to China. And our production capabilities and the quality of our products can't compete in the world market effectively anymore. How do you plan to pay our debt and make us competitive again?

Citizens of the United States mirror the national financial problem. We have mountains of credit debt and very close to zero savings. How do you plan to turn that around?

Exactly how do you think WE, the people, can turn around the drain on our military leadership? Who do you think runs the elections, chooses the candidates, gets them elected, and determines what laws are passed? How do you plan to change that?

It's easy to rage at the power that controls our lives. It's a little more difficult to change it!!!

Col. Bill Usmc (Ret. ) Symolon

Zoomer, Gerry, Ed, Shelley, Clark, Bob Grosch,   You guys make my day with your state of our union comments.  My concern is that we're the passing generation and I hope against hope that the young guns coming behind us have not become so limp as to actually buy into the Mother-hen, Caretaker gov't that Bernie Sanders or Hillary promise us.  I fear too many of them will want all the "free stuff" and be happy not to work.

I don't have all the answers for sure, but I know we need a president who will lead us hard to the right for a few years to correct and compensate for Obama's travesty.  Look at race relations in this country....with a Black president...he has set us back 40 years !   His failure to support our police is shameful.   Don't get me started on foreign policy.  I don't want more wars either, but America has to stay strong and be a power player in the world.  Doing that demands occasional use of force and the credibility that when we draw red lines in the sand, we will back up the rhetoric if needed.  Bush had his problems, but at least our enemies feared him and that is clearly no longer the case.  Obama's "open hand of friendship" policies have made us a laughing stock in the Middle East.  And opportunity...Hillary doesn't think young people have a fair shot anymore.  What is she talking about ?   Nothing stops success today except one's personal limitations.   And the last thing we need is free college tuition !   It will only reward mediocrity, not to mention an immense and wasted increase our out-of-sight debt.

I just hope our generation turns out in force for the next election.

Semper Fi, Boys,  Bill

Shelly;

Identify the enemy, and kill it. Cut the head off the snake. Get rid of Obama and Progressivism.

Replace it with / get back to the profoundly better Constitutionally based solution. Colonel William Symolon for POTUS would be a great start. We need someone to run this Country who has a set of balls, and an understanding of how this Country grew to become a THE Great World Power it once was. We need to get back to basics.

Stating that it is going to be difficult (although you're certainly accurate given the current environment) begs the question. It has to be done, and as we move forward, pathways will be identified.

To a degree, it's happening right now in the GOP. They finally are beginning to understand that the electorate sent them to Washington with a readily identifiable mission critical job to do. They have failed miserably thru inaction, and fear of being called racist. A significant number of them are now beginning to realize that it's not the color of a mans skin that matters. It's the color of his heart.

I am not ranting and raving. I am Passionate !!

Hey Shelly;

Try this:

What we need to do is ban all disloyal people (non-believers in the Constitution of the United States of America) from the country.......they either leave of their own volition, or get executed  !!
