I don't think that it's a senior moment ha ha but maybe.I have had a little bit of my past flare up in my children but not much. My baby bird is a senior and getting ready to grad.she got on that slippy path but got off real quick. Unlike dear old dad.I had to eat the whole cow to know I was eating beef.

Hi Beth! Wait are you coming down from Annapolis? Anyway, we're having my 5th grade daughter's basketball party here - did I mention my sports - nut husband/coach? Anyway, have fun if you go and to all a good night!

Pat Dodson (Tricia --I Dont Go By "Little Pat" Anymore :) )

Muffin--glad you are enjoying the book! Sports nut fish--didnt have one of them but if he is a dedicated husband and father like he sounds, he is definitely a Marlin! You should be very proud! ;)

Mum-yes, I usually spell it Mum and got in trouble in english class more than once for mixing up the words, Mum, colour and such :) Mum is from Luton, England.

Mark--no I didnt do the drugs and alcohol. I guess part of it was that I lived with an alcoholic Dad and grandmother. That is enough to keep anyone sober. I dont drink or even experiment with drugs (a large majority or people our age or older does here in Cali) because I am afraid that I will become addicted like they were.

Anyway, yes, I have had my share of hurdles but not drugs and alcohol!

It is funny to hear of the escapades but yeah, having kids hs age or around thereof is scary. My nieces and nephew confide in me sometimes (I am the cool auntie) and it freaks me out!

Well, its after midnight in y'alls neck of the woods so I bet most are asleep. So I wish you pleasant dreams and a happy rest of the week!

Love,
Tricia

Oh I'm sorry, did I capitalize the "M" is muffin, my bad. That's what I get for not paying attention in English.
Sorry Muffin for the muffin reference. :o)

I am glad we all were so stimualted to tell stories. I Would type a few of mine, I need to cull through for some memerial ones- like climbing the pool fence at Surrywood and "going swimming" at nigth and no not by myself, but no names from me, or who remembers the Champagne Party our Senior year. Thank goodness I was a beer drinker even back then from the outcome from over indulgence of the champagne drinkers. Lets us not forget, Deorios's legendary parties (way to many to detail). Bob Pritchard tagging the water tower on Elkhardt Road with our class slogan while I was "parking" with ??? acting as a look out- yes I volunteered, Senior Skip Day when Bill, Jay and I went to Nagshead and I got my nickname(Chuck). Getting snowed in on Afton mountain with the most motley crew and even driving back to Richmond at night in the teeth of the snow storm so Bill could pick up his girl friend and then we drove back that same night! HA, thanks to Kieth Kirby I could go because he had snow tires- well only one and it was on his left front wheel, not that I told my parents that. But then in all these instances there might have been alcohol involved.

Lin, Either's was great place and do you remember Ladies Night with 50 cent beer?

Muffin- yes you are correct - Either's was on southside, I don'know was on West End. Katies and Skilligalley were owned by same people. I think Crytstal Pistol was opend by them also.

Man, I am showing my age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Muffin Williamson (Wilson)

Have fun at the wedding Beth and tonight after!

I miss Richmond - when visiting Sharon Robertson Williamson a month ago we ate at Joe's Inn in the fan - I mean, what a place - and I had never been - cozy, and great food! Those kind of places are all over Richmond! And when my daughter's class went to Richmond for the 4th grade field trip I was the first parent to sign up - everyone LOVED that trip - they don't know about Richmond up here!

It's true that when driving down 95 you approach Fredericksburg and you just start to RELAX a bit and then if you have time you can always stop at The Smokey Pig in Ashland - another great Richmond place - besides all those great bars!

And of course, how could I forget UKROP'S? Every time I go through (my in-laws live in VA BEACH) I always stop at Ukrop's - unless of course it is Sunday. Since we moved back to VA in 99 my kids KNOW that unless a hurricane is blowing about I WILL stop - that's that!!! And they do love (but don't appreciate as I do) the White House rolls like I do! Even people up here in NO. VA who are not from Richmond but who are married to Richmond spouses laugh about the cult of Ukrop's people and then we usually talk about how southerners take food (the next meal) very seriously! Anyway, off to lunch - Ha ! Have a good one everybody!! Muffin

Oh yes, the Clubs. I started going to them when I was 16 using my John G. drivers license. I went to DMV filled out a lost driver license application with John G’s information (He was 18 at the time), and they sat me in the chair, took my picture, and gave me a drivers license saying I was 18. Boy did I get some use out that ID. My favorite Clubs were Much More, Poor Boys, and Hard Times in Richmond, and of course the Peppermint Club and Peabody’s at Va. Beach. Guess you’d get arrested as a terrorist if you tried this today.

Brian Pennington

Yes , Eric - I will never forget Much More - met my first wife there and Jay was a regular winner of selectra-cution.(SP)

Mark forgot about Poor Boys- HA, disco floor lit up and mirror ball and Rock on second floor.Hardtimes- where a cockroach crawled across my hand at the bar - but that was ok, it never touched my beer!
Peabodys and Pepermint and VA BCH- brings back memories- getting left behind to find my way back to cottage and ended up on the beach getting awakend by trash machine like at 4 or 5 am. I thought it was funny but she did not. Bill so happy he got in - for he looked about 14. The young thing is working good for his looks now.

I guess I was a wall flower.... I never knew about all this stuff you guys are talking about. Nope. I was just working at McD's- serving your late night munchies.

03/19/09 05:10 PM #85

Brenda Harris (Jones)

I can remember clearing the dance floor more than once at Much More. Of course, people may have been more concerned for their personal safety than wanting to watch me dance. My elbows do weird things when combined with alcohol and disco music.

Barry Jones

OOps, Brenda is going to kill me. The previous post was from me. I picked up the laptop and it was logged in with her user information. I am the bad dancer in the family.

03/19/09 06:24 PM #87

Mark DeOrio

Never made it to McD’s for the late night munchies, they were always closed when I’d come rolling out of the bars @ 2 am. Seemed to always end up at the White Castle, for those 5 miniature hamburgers for $1 or something like that. But there was this one time we went to Denny’s and Bob Pritchard displayed his excellence in reciting his ABCs.

Don't forget the Cozy Corner and Matt's Pub for Bass Ale

Brian if I remember correctly that night of the snow storm was when Jay punched Brian Grubb because he had dated Cathy and Brian wanted Jay to punch him to forgive him.(not that smart) Jay punched him in the nose, blood went everywhere. Cathy got mad at Jay and Jay went for a walk in a blizzard without a coat. I think the problem was we had plenty of beer and not enough girls to go around.

Mark- first - Gandoff Staff - gosh that was way back we were like 15 and totaly illegal. I ended up coaching my son in football with the guy who was the manager - really weird. Magoos- great southren rock and really cheap beers and they never checked ID's. Lets not forget the Hill Grill, Good Times, Hababas, Stockland Yard and the Raven down on the Pike. Just to name a few

03/20/09 01:07 AM #90

Brian Pennington

Ryne, never forget "the Cozy" - great barbecue and 1/2 pitchers with ice in them out of the tap. Matt Holcomb's grandmother was Mrs. Lowe. The orignal Cheers for Richmond. Smokey as hell and watch your head!!! Low ceilings - Cozy had been there since Pony Express was riding and they where a post office. For real.

As far as the punch - it was at a pool party (keg party) at Chesterfield Commuity Center - and yes you have the punch correct. It was a hoot- except it ended our evening way too early -

Ryne- forgots to comment on Matts Pub - all i need to type is " I have got a lovely bunch of coconuts"

03/20/09 01:17 AM #92

Brian Pennington

Do, what about with Pritcard waking up on your floor after one of your parties and cussing the Woogum Pecker that woke him up!!!!!

White Castle was really good when were down town, my Mom hated for she found the crumbs in her car the next morning- we would go to Jack in the Box drive thru and get thier taco supremes- and Bill was always no GD hot sauce.

Barry - I think or hope you are safe - but at closing time - were people REALLY concerned with personal saftey???????

03/20/09 09:58 AM #94

Barry Jones

Brian,
When I "feel the music" only those close to me are in real danger. Over the years Brenda has learned that, and keeps her distance. But in the early days, she would leave the floor with battle scars.
Now, my kids refuse to let me dance in public. They say something about me being embarrassing. What do they know?

03/20/09 10:07 AM #95

Barry Jones

Ryne,
Great story! Was it based on any real characters? Ahhhh Haa Haa. It brought back memories of Dawgs mastery of the English language-- especially the use of the word “Pussey”. Tell that Pussey he better show up at the reunion or he will be demoted from “Pussey” to “Ass wipe” !

Mark (Harold), I worked the McD's across the street from MHS. I think you must have worked at our sister store....
