John Haynes Barnhart, 75, of Hoover, Alabama passed away Saturday September 16, 2017. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as full colonel with 30 years of Miliyary service including active and reserves.

John was born on February 14, 1942 in Chillicothe, Ohio=. For much of his childhood , he was active in Boy Scouts. He graduated in 1960 from Chillicothe High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Miami University of Ohiowhere he was a member of Sigma Phi Epision fraternity and active in Air Force ROTC . After Miami of Ohio he earned two Master Degrees from University Of Southern California.

From 1970 - 1985 John worked t Ross Lbas , a division of Abbott Lab. He was a member of many military and civilian organizations . While living in Seacrest Beach with his wife, Helen, he volunteered at the Sacred Heart Hospital. 

In 2015 John and Helen moved to Birmingham, Alabama area to live closer to their daughters and grandchildren. While residing at Danberry at Everness, he was involved in many activities, serving as President of the Residents Advisory Committee and as current events group leader.

John was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Evans Barnhart and one brother, Robert Allen Barnhart.

Survivors include wife, Helen J. Barnhart, two daughters rebecca B. Purvis ( Jamie ), Sarah B. McGuire  ( Chris ) , therr grandchildren, Makenzie McGuire, Evan McGuire, and Jhn Alan McGuire. Two brothers, James Barnhart ( Diana ) , Peter Barnhart ( Judy ) and one sister Barbara Wissler.

The family will greet friends from 12 to 1 on Tueday at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Immediately followed by the funeral service at 1 PM at the Church. Father Ray Dunmyer will officate. Also on Tuesday the graveside committal service and burial service will be at 2: 45 PM at the Alabama National Cemeterty, at Monyevallo.
