Last 13+ years have taken 26 Ocean cruises throughout the world. ENJOYING DOUBLE RETIREMENT. Some golf but not good at it!!!
Helen and I have had the opportunity to make friends all over the world as a result of our travels. Our best golfing has been with Gordon Selby and his family on the Isle of Wight south of Southampton ,England. Longest cruise was a two month cruise late 2008 from Alaska to Bangkok. Highlight was our walk on the Great Wall of China.Total trip covered about 27,500 miles(to include air travel).
We were ready to get back home after that cruise. We have also done quite a bit
of voulunteer work in the local area,currently I am ( past 13 years) President of White's Gulfview Estates Owners Association and President of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Guild. Helen and I volunteer at Sacred Heart two days/ week- Helen in Women's Diagnostic and me in the surgical recovery area(PACU). We may be relocating closer ( Alabaster, Alabama) to the kids and grandchildren over the next year or so? Looking at Independent Living Facilities like Danberry at Inverness or Town Village in Vestavius Hills. Let someone else do all the housekeeping,yardwork,etc. ? Sort of like being on a ship that is in one place all the time. Planning to go to Helen's 50th college reunion next month (June 2013) at Keene State College in Keene ,New Hampshire. My 50th reunion from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio will be June 2014. Been a long time since we have been to either school.
Helen and I have our Florida house on the market now and plan to relocate to Danberry at Inverness (Hoover, Alabama)once the house is sold. Will miss the Florida 30A area but will be glad to be closer to our two daughters and sons -in-law and grand children.
We have now (as of June 12, 2015) moved to Danberry at Inverness.
