After CHS and undergrad at Otterbein College, I lived in San Diego, CA and taught school. I fell in love with CA and still call it "home." From 1998-2000, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bolivia. Between 2000-2006, I completed my PhD at Ohio State, including a year of field work in Colombia. I also married Sergio--he's Colombian but we met salsa dancing in Columbus. We spent a year in Ann Arbor, Michigan before settling in Dallas.

My best moments happened after high school. I did very much enjoy Sharon Patton's English class, which turned me into a writer and a teacher.
