I graduated from OU in '95 with a BS in Industrial Technology. I spent most of my time goofing off with Chris Quinn on the MT bike trails around Athens. I played OU rugby for two years; the last year we went to the championships, but I was out due to injury . Now that I'm 37, I feel every ache and pain from my youthful misadventures.
Joanna and I were married April 19, 1996. We moved to Germany as my first assignment in the Army. I served 4 years active duty as an Army Chemical Officer, deployed to Bosnia, Hungary, and Croatia as part of Operation Joint Endeavor to stop the violence in them Balkans. When I wasn't deployed we did a lot of travel- seeing 14 countries together.
We returned to Ohio and I became a manufacturing engineer and plant manager. I then woke up one morning and realized that Joanna worked 36 hours per week as an RN and made more money than I did working 60, so I went back to school for nursing. I graduated 2004 as an RN and went to work at Adena in the ICU. It was the best thing I ever did.
I was honored to be selected as one of the first eight nurses to start Adena's open-heart program. I did that for a couple years and now work in the cath lab. I take a lot of call as part of the team, but it is very rewarding, flexible, and fun. I completed my BS nursing last year on-line.
We have two kids who are the lights of our lives. Gabe is a born student and video game player. Claire is typical red-head with hot temper, but can run like her dad used ta' could. We like Wii, RC cars, and soccer.
I have led a mission team to Iquitos, Peru in the Amazon jungle the past two years. It is a Christian medical mission and one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I hope to take my kids in a couple years, but mom isn't going for it.
