Alice M. Marks Corning

I spend most of my time in my ceramic studio. Clay has been a great adventure for me. For the past 20 years I have also worked in bronze though I consider myself primarily a potter.
I am on the board of a small but wonderful music festival in Moab, Utah, where I have a second home. Hiking in that red rock country is spectacular.
I am also on the board of the Leakey Foundation which is dedicated to funding research into human evolution.
I feel most fortunate to have a fabulous family and friends with whom to share life.

Walnut Hills provided a fine educational foundation for future studies. From there I went to Harvard, which I loved, majoring in English literature. My education in pottery has been pieced together, from a studio in Soho, Manhattan, to workshops with many fine potters. Mostly, though, I have learned from the old standby, trial and error. It has been a fascinating journey.
