Sadly for you, we are all well acquainted with that side of you! I'm sure she knows. She just doesn't let on...a wife ALWAYS knows!

hi, all. I'm glad the Beachwood business got straightened out. Now, if we could get Shaker to move their butts and change their date.....

Well, Bonnie, I'm thinking we should probably come in for this little event since you all are talking about eating at my favorite places, but how come nobody's mentioned Mama Santa's in little Italy? Geraci's sure has the garlic bread, but the thin crust at Mama Santa's? And in that list of hang-outs listed a while ago, did anyone mention the Noname? Is this going to be a week-end long eating marathon?

Does anyone know if the school will be open for tours so we can see how it's changed?

Also, I found the Roosevelt 8th grade chorus and 9th grade Singers group photos, and the 9th grade girls' all-star basketball teams pictures in my cedar chest. When I go in to work on Tuesday i will try and scan them so I can forward to Val.

Sandie, yes I remember that...it was you, me and Sandy Sherwin and I think we're all actually in some of the same elementary pictures.....

Happy Birthday to Scott Poffenberger.

Sandee...check out the k-12 photos...the 8th grade chorus and singers pictures are already there. I'd LOVE to see that basketball pic, however.

All this talk of Geraci's.... Does anyone remember "The Aurora"?

By the way... A wise man told me the secret to a happy marriage...

You need a woman who shares your sense of humor...
a woman who shares your values... a woman who enjoys your hobbies... a woman with whom you have a good physical relationship... And then you need to make sure they never meet.

I'm planning on being in Cleveland for most of the week before the reunion, so I'm up for any of the social activities - Geraci's or whatever. It will be great to see everyone a few times.

Hi San-Dee

You mentioned the Noname from Cedar Center; well it is long gone and now the shopping center is also long gone, just a pile of rubble. Don't know what it will look like in October.

Also, did you ever have any pictures from the Taylor group of Girl Scouts? I remember going to Maxine Arbitman's house for meeting, but my mom must not have saved many pictures at that time.

Sue

hi, all,
Sue, I will try and find pictures from girl scouts, but I don't think there were very many. I do remember that the only reason we got to go to camp was because Maxine's mother went through the outdoor education training; my mother couldn't. strange-I "grew up" to be a Leader-Trainer in the Sacramento area council and did outdoor ed.as one of my classes.

I remember the Kings Pub too-wasn't it close to the movie theater?

Shelley, do you remember that "secret" spot at Cain Park that was off the parking lot of the temple? you had to go up a hill through a bunch of bushes to get to it from the park.

Does anyone else remember the swimming hole near the polo fields? Is that area still park land or has housing taken it over?

I do not remember a movie theater at Cedar Center. Kings Pub was 4 doors down from Corky and Lenney's

I'm assuming that I'm the Shelley you're asking. YEP sure do remember it. All those trees.

It was a lowes.... they made it into 2 and then closed.... that side is now in the process of destruction... I remember going to the Kings pub the day before my brothers wedding.... Thought I was drinking 3.2 beer (remember being 18 and it was legal) but it was good beer.... not 3.2.....
sometimes I wish to be carded once again... not in this lifetime.....

I think eating at Geraci's is better, because they can accomodate more people than a hotel room. We need to get the word out....maybe we can "take over" the restaurant.

The woman who started Geraci's is still there most evenings.... I remember going there after homecoming games.... We stage crew folks were (ARE?) a little strange....

On the subject of stange... Why is it that I remember more from Taylor, less from Roosevelt and very much less from Heights...

One more question... Does anyone remember Mrs Block's first name? I would love to give her a copy of 4th grade Taylor... It was her first year teaching......(saw her at a pizza place about 10 years ago... She was the one to say hello!!! I do not think I had a beard in 4 th grade :)

Howdy, all. Just found out about this site and decided to jump aboard. Not all that many Roxboro-ites, but it was a pretty small junior high.

@ Scott Poffenberger - Speaking of Roxboro, do you remember that math teacher we had who was always drunk? I can't put my finger on his name, but even to this day I can hear him yelling out, "Get away from the grinder," to anyone who dared use the pencil sharpener during class. I'm convinced he had a flask hidden somewhere in his desk. I also recall him calling you "Red" instead of Scott, which I imagine steamed you up a bit. And did you ever have Mr. McGinnis for English? All the girls seemed to swoon over him, and all the boys decided that his penchant for flipping his tie up over his shoulder instead of anchoring it to his shirt with a tack or clip was The Coolest.

Do male teachers even wear ties any more?

Terri Morris (Balchen)

Mr. McGinnis WAS the coolest!
*SWOON*

Oh yeah...the tie....*sigh*

Paul.... What a memory.... It was Mr. Miller... We used to very quietly make a popping noise (you know, the ol' index finger off the inside of your mouth) and say "Bottle of beer, Mr. Miller" when he did something especially impaired. I only had Mr. McGinnis for about a week before I got tranferred out but I do remember him correcting me on my use of "can" vs. "may"... "I don't know Mr. Poffenberger... CAN you leave the room?"

BTW... "Red" was pretty standard & never bothered me... Now it's "Baldy"!

My mom was a pioneering Jewish mother: she'd always make 'reservations' rather than dinner. Every Sunday, we'd drive to the Aurora when it was still at University Circle (is that what it's called? It's been so long)

I can still picture our waiter, Joe, 50 years later.

Hey Steve.. Look forward to seeing you in October... The only location for The Aurora that I'm aware of was on Warrensville Ctr Rd in Cedar Center... Next to Bialy's... I always preferred it to Geraci's but alas.. Aurora is no more...

Sue Bruder (Wold)

YOU CAN STILL BUY AURORA'S SPAGHETTI SAUCE BUT I AM NOT SURE WHERE. JUST FOUND OUT YOU CAN BUY IT AT CORKY AND LENNYS WHERE THEY SELL FROZEN SOUPS.

Just for some added interest; the last time I was in Cleveland, I found the Euclid Beach office on Miles. They still make those candy kisses right on location. Inside the timny office, they have a small area with Euclid Beach park memorabilia...brought back quite a few memories!!

June House (Myers)

I don't know if it's still there or not but there was a Euclid Beach Restaurant / memorabilia house / dance hall on the top of Route 306 in Kirtland on the east side of the road.........across from the school. Again, not sure if it's still there - it was 2 years ago when I was visiting my Mom.

Hello all... Just hit "The Schvitz" w/ buddy Steve last night & got all the info... We can go as a small group on the Thursday the 15th or we can have the whole place if we get enough interest. Steam and a medium rib steak (mine last night was as good a steak as I've ever had) is sixty bucks. If we pay twelve hundred, we get the whole place and twenty guys can be accomodated. If we have fewer guys, we can have more food... But my guess is that we may not be able to muster enough bodies to take over the place. Making reservations for a smaller group may just work better.

A full hour massage is another sixty bucks (plus tip) but will have you walking out of there feeling like Gumby.

BTW... It's always an interesting time there... I ran into a group of Professors from Case/Reserve who were having an Israeli wine tasting party. They invited Steve & me to join them and we had a great time. Israeli wines? Who knew? They were terrific, as was the conversation.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending a Schvitz night in October & I'll be happy to coordinate... So far it looks like Mitch Berg & me.
