So anyone interested in getting together for pedicures the afternoon of the reunion? There must be some place with a lot of chairs. Now that would be FUN.

The girls can have pedicures while the boys are in the schvitz!! Count me in!

Jeez, I can't believe none of the guys have gone for the bait and switched the discussion to sex. Not that I will.

A little more on Mawby's at Cedar-Center: the hunchback gentleman was a sweetie named Bert. My dad knew his uncle so I got to know him and he always beamed when we came in.

Later in life, when I had a disabled child of my own, I thought how cool it was for Mawby's to have hired Bert in those less-enlightened times.

I remember our favorite waitress was a lady named Mabel, the only woman I have ever met named Mabel. Gee, this might make a country song.

And yes, in addition to the occasional racy dream, I do sometimes dream I'm back at Mawby's. It's very satisfying and without the calories!

As an update..I just added a bunch of videos and links from the past that have been sent in so check them out on Video Corner. Also, I have been putting on the 30th reunion pictures as they are being sent in to me so check them out on the Photo Albums page. And of course along with the pictures from School Years K-12, if you ever see anyone with a question mark and you know who it is, please let me know, I update these names daily. I also just started a section called Websites and Links under the Pictures- Then & Now page at the bottom of the page. If you have ANY pictures you would like to update or website links that you would like on, just update your profile or email me. You guys have done a great job of going through your stuff and pulling out the past so I can upload it all here on this site for everyone to enjoy. Keep it up, I know there's a lot more out there.

As Val continues to do an extraordinary job of creating this pictorial history, I renew my plea to those who might have class photos from Coventry.

I was there in K-5 and can't locate any of the the photos. I remember the names of these teachers:

Miss Oppenheimer (2nd grade?)
Miss Bodenweber
Mr. Calendar (4th grade?)
Miss Lewis (5th grade)

Anyone relate to these vague memories of the Coventry "school marms"?

Also, I relate to every one of the food/restaurant obsessions described. I'll add a few -

(i)the soda fountain at Uberstine Drugs (at the corner of Hampshire and Coventry). I believe that Mark and Mindy Uberstine's grandfather was the proprietor. I can still taste the cherry and vanilla cokes made from real fountain syrups - the commercial bottled brands don't live up.

(ii)Chin's Pagoda on Lee Road - very exotic dining for kids from East Overlook Road. I still love (but rarely eat) greasy egg rolls.

This forum is great memories and entertainment.

Bonnie, let me know if that picture is correct or not. I got that picture from Taylor Rd. Mr. Wheeler's 6th grade class photo and your name was listed under that photo. If anyone sees a name listed incorrectly, please let me know. Thanks.

Heres a thought-seeing as this reunion will be (among other things) a trip down memory lane, maybe a group would like to go to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Especially for you out of town people, it is definitely worth seeing.

Good idea Joyce. But, the Shaker reunion is the same weekend and it is AT the Hall of Fame.

Thats too funny-because I actually graduated from Shaker in '69!! I moved there in the middle of 10th grade and hated every second-I kept my Heights friends and basically just took up space at Shaker.

I just made a new page called Classmate Websites. I had started this on the bottom of the Then and Now page. This is the first attempt at a networking page amongst classmates. For now I just have it alphabetized but in the near future I will be doing it by occupation categories. If anyone has any websites or links, even from ebay sales or whatever, and you want to be represented on this page, please email me and I will add your link.

Joyce, you're so psycho...I mean psychic. No wonder you have always been one of my very bestest friend! And always have been my reunion date except for the 10 year....I don't think the Shaker in you rubbed off yet, so I went with Alice Schneider that year.

So sorry about Louie, I'm sure going to miss him.....please don't gooooooooooooo.......

Steven I liked your take on pedicures. And thanks to all for the cute doggie info. They just raised sales taxes here in beautiful sunny Sandy-ago, so they are taxing vet visits now! I'm a realtor.....not a good time to purposely increase expenses.

Louie...should I say something dirty? Like poopie?

On a little more serious note, when do we feel old? I felt old when I turned 55 which was one year older than my father was when he died of a heart attack. Thinking about that now at 58 I realize that was a little stupid on my part. We are old when we can no longer get joy from others even if they are strangers. We are old when worry takes our life over and we are afraid to try new things may that be a rollercoaster at Cedar Point or Sushi at a new Sushi Bar… Thinking back to High School and also Junior High, I thought I was the most disliked kid in class… Others though phone calls and messages pointed out I was not…..SO please Hug your kids and grandkids, Wives and husbands and go smell the roses, feel the thorns, and enjoy the lives you created…

Steven:

I had my heart attack at 55 during a "couple moment" with my wife. They put in a stint and sent me home in less than 3 days. I am doing great now. Medicene is so much better today that you have much less to worry about.

I always liked you in school and we go back to elementary. Don't be hard on yourself. You are a great guy.

I liked your comment about people getting too old to get joy from others. If we are not tolerent, we may be too much like our parents were when we were young and that was a different generation.

This message board has been less interesting without those who have not posted lately. I know some posters had received negative criticism. I say, If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen!"

Louie: If you let me get away with the "couple moment" comment with out a post, we really have lost you.

Steven,
Good thoughts for us to start out the day. My mom always used to say "count your blessings" and I wish it hadn't taken me so long to understand what she meant.

You have to remember that when we were in HS, most of us, if not all of us, were completely self-centered and self-absorbed. Trying to figure out who "we" were apart from our family and friends. Trying to fit in somewhere. I've seen it again by watching my kids become teens and it's the same thing. And they didn't want to listen to my "learned from experience" advice!!!!
