When your at that age and dont work out and eat out day in day out ( Travel, Hotels , etc. ) and have major cocktails little becomes big! NO!..PS. have a great weekend! Happy fathers day everyone!!! Remember when you were playing at the King's Pub with Eddie Becker, my mom, Essie, who worked there for many, many years, was keeping both of your under age, rear ends from going to jail. The bar was 21 and over bar and people were carded at the door. Mark Borovitz hung out there as well.

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there.

With all this talk about "oldies", just had to share a memory...my sister and went to cain park to see Frankie Avalon...somehow we managed to get backstage and my sister said it was her birthday-don't remember if that was true!-so he kissed her on the cheek..so, of course, I said "me too" and he kissed ME on the cheek...we went bonkers!!!

BONNIE GIRL,
My father Burton ( Whitey ) had to sign off so we could play there, and your Mom was the best ( we were not aloud to approach the bar ).. No cocktails for us! Thank god they did not have a breathalyzer/or any testing then or she would have used it on Eddie and I...Essie your mom everyone new and loved she was great I will never for get!! Looking at the bar from being on the stage ( our view ) LITTLE corner stage at front window and to the left the front door and your mom ..Or at the bar. We could barely fit are equipment on that stage!

All time favorite song. "Twist and Shout"

Even if Animal House, Ferris Bueller, and Rodney Dangerfield borrowed it.

Which version did you like best?

06/20/09 10:51 AM #2019

Joel Newman

Mitch,
Animal House!$$$$ nothing but serious dollars for the record and movie companies! Combining great comedians, great songs and great musicians great combination + the movie, touring and the merchandising = some serious $$$ will be the classic of all time financially and creatively! Also: The Blues Brothers with Steve Cropper's band were great! Live,.. Great band of ringers behind them major top studio musicians from NY and LA +++ they were funny and fun to watch actually when I think of it they were a real show! Coming to America--The lead singer at the church Sexual Chocolate was the funniest thing i have ever seen. look for the seen in Church it will crack you up!! its all good!! Over@ Out cold

You have a great memory!! You described the King's Pub perfectly. Mom was the only female bartender....and did not take crap from anyone. She knew your father, all the bands that performed there had to go through my Mom. Before that bar, she worked at Faragher's on Taylor, when there was the backroom and many a famous group performed there, and slept at our house, because they were too broke to get a hotel and our house, as well as my house is and was always open to friends.

Bonnie Girl ,
3 degrees of separation!!! Your mom knew Bocky Boo.. Bocky and the visions!!! From the (M hill).. She actually new everybody she was amazing and great hearted person looking back! She also new Joe Perelo (also from M hill) from Wild Cherry later in years with a number 1 record! Play that funky music ( White Boy ) on ( Epic Records ) I worked it at Radio I was Vp promotion for Epic/Columbia/CBS records before Sony bought it from CBS-TV ..Small world! It comes around in a great way!

Scott,
Jimmy McGriff on (united artists) is one of the most prolific Key board/organ jazz / blues players ..will go down in history ...we use to see him here in LA at the Light House in Redondo Beach and in NY at the sound machine in Mid-Town Manhattan when I was in my late 20s brother Louie use to handle their promo for Jimmy and Roy Ares on ( polydor) etc.,Just for the record he like most of the early jazz / blues keyboard players came out of church where they grew up backing up the Choirs! Thats when music made money $$ Great Country!WHA HAPPEN !

OK...I just made my airline reservations for the reunion so I guess I'm REALLY coming. I was thinking...perhaps some of us can coordinate our arrival/departure times so that we can maybe carpool to and from the airport. I know, I'm hoping I don't need to rent a car (I think I can borrow one for the weekend to use if I can get to Mayfield Heights). So...here are my times.

Arriving Cleveland Thursday evening 7:49 (I already KNOW this conflicts with the Schvitz (or however you spell it).

Departing Sunday the 18th at 3:45.

Anyone else coming and going about the same times???

Perry you dog.
Chesterland Hullabaloo
Saturday was date night with Teri Lepon my love! She respected me too much to put out!

Friday was stag night. I will never forget a Chesterland girl I met at Hullabaloo named Kathy Tyler. We spend 6 consecutive Friday nights in the back of my father's Caprise 396 station wagon. 3.2 beer, 8 track music, blow up mattress. Young, dumb, and shared our fun.
