Hello, Everyone!
Before our 50th reunion last year, many of us were able to attend the Coon Rapids High School (CRHS) tour, presented by the principal, Mr. John Pena. Mr. Pena created a picture of what a “Day in the Life” of a current CRHS school student looks like and of the culture he and the teachers strive for in support of the students.
It was wonderful to see the familiar walls and spaces that had not changed, as well as the changes and improvements that have been made to our school. One change we became aware of is that there is now a middle school and not a junior high. Therefore, the word senior has been dropped from the school’s name. It is now Coon Rapids High School or CRHS on all signage and the school website.
Thanks to the generosity of our classmates, we were recently able to fund our website for the next five years at a discounted price. Also, as a token of our appreciation and continued support of the school, a $300 donation to the Student Compassion Fund was made on behalf of our class. The Compassion Fund is used to help students in need with expenses such as transportation to work or activity fees.
We received a handwritten thank you letter from Ms. Tess DeGeest, the Executive Director of the Anoka-Hennepin Education Foundation and a thank you note from Ms. Danielle Callahan, the CRHS Volunteer Services Coordinator.
Speaking of reunions, the city of Coon Rapids will be having a Coon Rapids High School All-Class Reunion!
Date and Time: Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Place: There will be a huge tent in place next to the Coon Rapids Ice Center at 11000 Crooked Lake Blvd.
The tent will be furnished with a table for each graduation year since the opening of the school. Upon arrival, you create a name tag and can look to our class and other class sign-in sheets, to see who is in attendance. In addition, there will be food trucks and live music. It’s a great opportunity to see old friends from our and other’s classes. Hope to see you there!
